Hello guys, i have a troy battle rail on my ar now but was looking at getting the larue 7.0 rail and put on it. It makes the barrel a free float and looks pretty nice, whats your opinion on this rail/forend.

Never owned one, but I've owned enough LaRue products to know that your only concerns should be whether you like the form and the features.

Superior product quality is not a concern.

You will not notice the difference.

LaRue products are top of the line. If I had plent of money, they would be the only place i bought anything. but thats just me.

They're the industry standard for 'stuff that works'.

However, the Troy rail is also excellent in overall quality. If it's doing what you need it to do, leave it.

I'd stick with the Troy battle rail personally.

First of all, what is your intended purpose for the rifle? Does the purpose dictate the use of a free float forearm with rails for mounting additional equipment?

If so and you wish to purchase proven quality, LaRue and Daniel Defense are at the top of the list followed by Troy. Avoid Midwest, UTG, and other "low cost" rails.

I like the Daniel Defense as well as Larue but I use Troy and YHM tubes on rifles that aren't christmas tree'd :)

For the money, YHM and Troy work beautifully.

Which Troy rail do you have? I'm guessing drop in since you are asking about a free float. What are you hoping to gain with the larue that the troy isn't offering? As noted before, I doubt you'd see any difference.

99% of the people who have a rail have a light and FVG. Any brand works for these people. If your building a SPR, you would use something longer than a 7

I just wanted to put a top notch rail on it, it is a colt and i bought a acog for it so i figured i would just put the best equipment on it.

Which Troy do you have? I might be interested if you decide to get the Larue. You could recoup some funds to go towards the Larue.

Conpro, since you haven't responded with which model of rail you have, I'll have to retract my offer. I couldn't wait any longer and ordered a Samson Evolution rail. It will be here Tuesday.

I didn't post any insult, so I guess not. If the mods see it differently, I'll take my lumps.

He's right, it was posted. I feel the same put the best way to deal w/ CONpro is to ignore him. Whatever it is he feels he is accomplishing will be snuffed.

My Colt 6920 has that rail on it. I would reccomend it, but only if you don't already have a rail.
