No name for it yet, but it seems that my suggestion of "fishnet" is catching on
...no, not replaced....new texture.
This applies to alloy and thin 1911's as well

What kind of frame is that? Edit- Hi Power.
Eh checkering looks cleaner
Very interesting
It must be fairly shallow if its done on a HP. CW is a great smith.

Looks a hell of a lot better than stippling!

Not bad looking stuff, but having the serial number stamped right in the middle of the front strap is one of the dumbest and ugliest things I've seen done in awhile. Without the hideous number square dead in the middle, it would be pretty cool. Why the number is stamped there is beyond me. :dunno:

Not sure about that. I like good stippling quite a bit. :)

No, it really doesn't.
I like the look and it's a nice option for the misguided (Hi-Power owners).

Well there is defnly good stippling.. see Bac's Nighthawk above, then there is this... http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1346359&highlight=stippler
Good stippling I like.. bad stippling not so much..
Mr. Warners new technique would work well on my Kimber UC.. as it is aluminum framed
Seems it would be grippier if the fishnet texture went the other direction, vertical instead of horizontal.

Maybe so, deadite.
That would probably resemble chainlink quite a bit.

I like it. Only thing I've seen on a Hi-Power aside from Novak's stippling that looked good to me. Seems like I recall that some 'smith re-stamped a SN on a HP dust cover to get it off the grip so he could stipple or fix stippling on one due to the thin metal. Guess moving a serial number takes some official okay from BATFE, or maybe the right kind of FFL for a manufacturer would do it? Or if you put the "second" ON before taking the first one off would do it.

The majority of BHP's made in the last 50 years have their S/N on the frontstrap.
Who knows why..

Clearly there is a difference in stippling, but, to me, even the NHC pales in appearance next to the pattern Chuck Warner put on that BHP. :dunno:

I think it looks nice, barring the gap in the pattern to show the BHP serial number.
I think the Novak style stippling is less disrupted by that than Chuck's Fishnet Stocking pattern.
But CFNS would look good on a 1911, CZ, Sig, or other gun with smooth frontstrap.

When I posted that I didn't realize that it was a BHP. Makes a little more sense, know it's a BHP.
