Anyone know the first year Colt put front strap serrations on a pistol?
The first model was the National Match, correct?

I'm guessing early to mid sixties. Tried searching on the web, google, could not find it.

Its whenever the first Gold Cup style NM became available.

Wasn't it late 50's? :dunno:

Cool - thought '57 or '58.

Mine was 10 years later. ;)

Strangly, only the box was labeled "Gold Cup" on these pre series 70 guns. It doesn't state it anywhere on the pistol itself.

For production on a "normal gun" around Sept. of 1957 I think with Gold Cup serial number 26-NM. Find that at an estate sale for $1K in decent shape, then go buy a lotto ticket and see if you can win again. And yes, "Gold Cup" was not roll marked on the slide of the gun till 1970

What's the MSH on your Miller? Is it serrated like the front?

No,.......I was a but odf a DA when I had Bob build it.
I asked for a 20 LPI Smith & Alexander MSH. Did not even think of ordering a blank and have it serrated to match the front strap.

The heel was also slightly beveled/blended so a stock one would stick out like
a sore thumb.
The 20 LPI does ensure a good grip though,.....so it's all good!

I do believe my EMP will get serrations & other tweaks by Bob. I Just need to get it on his schedule.

I just ask because I handled a S&W E-Series bobtail a while back and didn't like the serrated MSH at all. Grip in my palm was non-existent.

Makes sense,.....overall the 20 LPI works very well on the msh
