I'm sure this has been discussed a million times but just curious on what sights people are using and why! Going on my G19. Going to use for some target and some carry! Like Big Dots! Anyone using them if you could post a pic that would be great. Thanks

Depends what the use is. A competitive shooter might want and all black notch-and-post. 3-dot night sights would be better for a carry or HD gun.

I'm just the opposite. I use what works best for me and dont really care what anybody else uses.Out of 18 different Glocks that I own, I use Meprolight night sights on my HD & CCW guns and factory Plastic Glock adjustables on everything else. They work great for me and in my world, I'm the only one that matters...

I like Trijicons sight picture for carry/target use. I shoot a **** of a lot better with them vs. "stock" GNS aren't bad either. I guess the three dot sight picture just works for me.

use the trijicon and they are the best all around sights IMHO

I just put a set of Dawson Precision plain black front and rear sights on my G19 and I really like the set up. I use the same sight design on my Hi-Power and 1911's so they all look the same and sight the same. I never cared much for a white dot front sight. I get better sight alignment with the plain black sights.

I used to use Trijicons. They are OK sights, but the white outlines and tritium posts are exposed to the elements. They get dirty and the white has a tendency to chip out with hard use.

I switched to Meprolights and have been much happier. They have a clear epoxy of some sort over the outlines/tubes that protects them quite well. Don't forget that they are also cheaper!

I have Hilon Yam's 10-8 sights. NS front post and plain black serrated rear. Great for target shooting.

For carry/hd I prefer the I-dot style. Heine amongst others make them.

For a defensive gun, I like Trijicon. They are simple, and they work.

Meprolight TruDot gets my vote every time. I put them on everything, except my G39 which already had Trijicons on it - I like those too, just not as much.

I will say that I like the way Meprolight makes the white outline bigger on their sights than what Trijicon does. I do pick up the Mepro's better in the daylight than the Trijicons.

I like my idot pro's so I'd second that, but I'm in the market for a G26 and I dont think I will put them on that, they are a bit tall and I think I want something more low profile on a sub-compact gun. I will probably go with factory three dot night sights on a G26.

Its hard to buy sights from pictures online. I held/aimed a compact 1911 style at a gun show equiped with XS Big Dots, and I thought I would like that sight, but I had trouble picking up the rear sight. I just felt I could not get a good sight picture with those. I was very interested in them up to that point, now not so much.

If you want precision go with a competition sight. I'm running the Warren Tactical/Sevigny with plain black rear and fiber optic front. Pinpoint accuracy, clean sight picture and sturdy... even more so if you get the "Warrior" finish.

How do you like the trijicon HD sights on your last picture?

How do you like the trijicon HD sights on your last picture?

You have to ask JBarbarsi (sp?) I just copied his pictures because I have the same i-dot pro setup. I suppose I should have cut the last couple out.
In general I'm very happy with the i-dot pro. I would only say that they dont seem to be the brightest at night.

A good set of sights for target and defense are the Ameriglo regular or pro Operators.

Why?-a narrow front with smallish white ring around tritium and a all black rear with with tritium on either side and a wide gap(the pro is even wider).

I like a narrow front with plenty of air around it-seems to allow more precise aiming and the plain black rear helps keep a good lock on the front sight.

I like the Pro glo's but the wider front doesn't allow the precision of the the narrower operators-but it faster to pick up and lock on the the front.

Stock rears with Ameriglo Pros up front.

+1. Seriously considering replacing the stock rear polymers with the steel version.

I like the glock night sites that's what I have on my G19 and they work good I also shoot better with the 3 dot sights. I would like to try something differnt on my glock 26 but I want sights that don't rust so I need to do more research on my next purchase.

How do you like the trijicon HD sights on your last picture?

all of those pictures are the ameriglo proglo front and i-dot rear. they offer the front in an orange or "lime green" configuration. in bright sunlight i think the orange stands out better and provides more contrast, but the lime green/yellow is not far behind. in medium to low lighting and indoors, the yellow really excels. i think the orange gets washed out a little easier than i would like when not in direct lighting.

ameriglo quality across the board is top notch, not to mention their customer service is probably hard to beat anywhere, even outside of the "gun world". i have also previously had the operators and liked those as well. i like the i-dots because of the "straight 8/dot the I" two dot system, i've personally never been a huge fan of three dot sight pictures. they are also offered in a tritium green/yellow combination to distinguish the front sight in extreme low lighting situations.

imo, its kind of a no-brainer to go with the i-dots over the trijicon hd, at $88 shipped when you use promo code "glocktalk" at ameriglo.net they are my new favorite sight for sd/range use.

I like the Warren Tactical Sevigny competition sights... clean, uncomplicated sight picture, with no gimmicky nonsense.

Of the gimmicky options out there I far and away prefer the Ameriglo I-Dots and Pro Glo's over the XS Big Dots (with their virtually useless rear sight), but all of them choose being fancy with colored paint, tritium and overly fat front blades and too-wide notch's over fundamental proven specs, so while they may look trick and be fast to pick up, they're not very precise at longer distances.

Just my $0.02.

In my opinion these aren't just the best sights for Gocks, but are the best sights available for any handgun (I wish they would make sights for 1911's :crying:)

I personally like Trijicon 3-dot night sights on all of my Glocks. Much sharper and more crisp looking in the dark than the Meprolights or GNS, at least for my eyes.

Both of my G19's have Trijicon NS. But one of them also has a Trijicon RMR-A on a LWD slide. Works very well under all lighting conditions and much faster & easier to acquire a target than with the 3-dot sights.
