I have narrowed it down to either a S/A Champion or Kimber Pro TLE II.
Thoughts/opinions ? :dunno:

ETA:My budget is $800-$900

Whichever, feels best to you and fits your budget.

If you can shoot em both.. buy the one that you like better. Not much wrong with either of those two pistols at that price point..

The choice is yours, but I like Springfield's.
Springfield also has better customer service.

I have owned both brands, and they are both quality firearms. BUT! Kimber's customer service BLOWS! Just had to deal with them a few weeks back. Instead of dealing with em I sold the gun. Springfield's customer service is great!

Are these both series 80? I only plan to do one mod and thats to have it bob tailed. If I get the Champion it will get a bead blast also.Hate shiny stainless.

My opinion?

The Springfield is more of a solid no nonsense work horse with Springfield's outstanding customer service.

The kimber is a more refined weapon, more features & better cosmetics. Kimber is
a solid weapon with good customer service. Expect to have to replace the recoil spring
with a Wolff extra power spring. Many have done this for reliable function.

Would be a very close call.......I think I would choose the Springfield.

Neither are series 80.. The Kimber uses the Swartz fps, while the Springfield uses a titanium firing pin with an extra heavy firing pin spring.. Out of the box you probably will find the Kimbers trigger to be just a touch smoother.. I would go with the springer myself.. as I absolutely cannot stand the CS folks at Kimber..

Of the two I would go SA.

Before you get either one, be sure you are comfortable with carrying a 40oz gun (loaded). I know some here will claim it's not an issue and it may not be for them, but I would look toward an aluminum frame 1911 if your intention is carry.

This just might fit the bill as well.. http://www.gilbertsguns.com/Handguns/Magnum+Research/Magnum+Research+Desert+Eagle+Compact+1911+4+33+45+ACP+Pistol+DE1911C

just a bit cheaper so you could spend the extry $$ on ammo..

<facepalm> only reason I suggested it was the price point.. that and the fact that it is actually closer to a true commander length barrel.. but for those that are hung up on the aesthetics of the huge rollmark..

It's not on your list but I like my S&W 1911ES. It has a Commander length slide and an Officer's length scandium alloy frame. It's light weight and so far 100% reliable with about 1600 rds through it. You can still carry 7 + 1 with the right flush fit magazine.

I believe just the Operator. The Loaded Champion (unless you get a Champion Custom Carry) comes in Stainless or OD green (frame) black (slide).

You could always get a stainless one and send it to Dave Severns to HardHat.

The GI Champion is available in stainless & parkerized.
The Champ Operator has a black Armory Cote finish.
