I had a chance to buy one of these at a LGS about a year ago.It was in mint condition and tighter than a bank vault, except for needing new sights.I could have owned it for $400.I still regret not buying it...:crying:

Isn't this kinda what you are looking for now? seems to me that that price is kinda hard to beat.. esp if the round count is true..

Similar available in the current SACS lineup, they just call it the compact, and I believe its a 4" barrel.

DW cco, a "blem" one is around 1200.

Or if you want the springfield name, and no brazil stamp just get the SACS compact.

I traded a G23 (police trade-in) for mine

frank_drebin
08-08-2011, 19:06
That is mine and I redid the ad to get some better pictures.
The new AD is listed here: http://glocktalk.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=12320&title=springfield-armory-cco-lightweight-compact-1911-w-2f-lwalloy-frame&cat=5

I have received a lot of trade offers but no cash offers as of yet. I planned on buying some new grips and relisting since the Hogue grips definitely have the ghey. Hogue grips are a deal killer for most. My dad "surprised me" with them while he had it in his safe. He can't find the OEM grips now. The round count is 100% true. I fired 300 myself and I have been told that my dad and brother popped off a few mags while he had it stored for me. It's all original but does have some holster wear and an idiot mark.

Still for sale if anyone is interested.... shoot me a PM. If my MK9 sells first, I'll keep this one and buy some nice grips and maybe some upgrades.

Wouldn't want a blem and nothing to do with the $$.

If you say so, the blem's i've seen were minor issues with the coating, and I know it'll just end up getting its fair share of wear anyway, may as well make it a little less to worry about.

Listing has been removed,....how much was seller asking?

The Brazil stamp does not bother me, now that I found out MANY of the big names'
raw frames are forged in Korea! :steamed:

Call me crazy but I'll take a Brazillian over a Korean every day & three times on Sunday!

$600

The brazil stamp is because it was assembled there, not because thats where the frame was made, the frame could have easily come from korea also.

Right. The ones stamped Brazil are fit, finished and assembled in Brazil. The ones without the stamp are fit, finished and assembled in the U.S. I don't have any problem with the Brazilian stamp per se, it's just a personal preference. :patriot:

By any chance do these have a ramped barrel?

Doubt it, but its possible.

Most i've found examples of werent, several around here seem to have seen it the other way around.

A SACS compact *should* have it and im sure you could make sure it does for the build.

DW CCO is ramped barrel.

Is there an advantage of the ramped barrel over the non-ramped? I would think it would be better for the shorter stroke guns for sure but I have not seen a sub 4" 1911 with a ramped barrel.

IMO nothing to be gained with a ramped 45 ACP barrel unless the frame is alloy.

The ramp saves the alloy frames from feeding abuse.
Kimbers frames have taken a beating from the cartridges feeding from mag to barrel.

All of the Kimber 3" have ramped barrel.

Springfield current 3.0 and 3.5" are ramped barrel.

Mainly the durability for me, i'll pass on most without ramped barrel.

Plan to have the slide cut for Novak cuts, & ball mill cuts at dust cover.
Will change the hammer & add a beavertail GS, as well as a flat MSH.
Did not get to the range today, but if I like the flat trigger in the EMP
it will get a flat triger as well.
I'm undecided on the grips,.......but I may change them out.:whistling:

the crown royal bags ended in 2002, which is from where my Compact was from

and some info from Springfield:

Springfield is phasing out the blue gun socks in favor of a plastic bag with rust prohibitive in it. Most current models ship in the newer plastic bag, not in the blue socks.

and some info from Springfield:

They should focus less on bags to ship guns in, and more on offering the "compact" again, and bringing the micros alloy frame over to the ultra compact.

Everytime I think of 1911's I think of big, heavy guns not fit for concealment. Then I realize that my Kahr MK9 calls for the same Fobus holster as the 1911 did yet Kahr's are supposed to be the thinnest guns on the market. With it's aluminum frame, this SA Compact weighs roughly the same as my Stainless MK9.

Hey FAA... I swear I stopped by 3 package stores on my way home last night and asked them each if I could buy a CR baggie from them... No dice

I made up for it by putting the gun in an extra-special box that all of your friends will envy. Should be in your hands in the very near future... :)
