View Full Version : titegroup for .38?

Hi Guys,

I currently am using 4.2gr of titegroup on my 550b for 9mm, and I am hoping to use the same powder and charge for .38. I thought for the sake of simplicity I would try the same power and charge, so that I don't have to change any settings when I switch calibers. What do you think?

thanks

Depending on what weight bullet you are using. Personally I would just get another powder bar. Set one up for the 9mm and one for the .38. They are easy to change out.

We really need more info like bullet weight, type (FMJ, lead, profile) and purpose. Tightgroup is not real forgiving. Also are you swaping tool heads or dies? The setting for the powder die will have to change to adjust the bell of your case.

hadn't thought of this, I have another powder bar already. To answer the bullet question; It doesn't really matter to me, because the will be plinking loads. Therefore, I will shoot the cheapest .38 bullet I can find and load it using +p data.

We really need more info like bullet weight, type (FMJ, lead, profile) and purpose. Tightgroup is not real forgiving. Also are you swaping tool heads or dies? The setting for the powder die will have to change to adjust the bell of your case.

Once the power die is set changing powder measures is no problem. Just pulling the powder measure off one tool head and putting it on the other.

it will be tool heads, with its own power die.

Yes but that is why I asked if he is swaping dies or tool heads. If he is useing the same tool head and swaping the dies, the powder die woild need to be adjusted for the case length change. If you have two
tool heads you can leave the dies adjusted and be good to go.

You are right I was assuming that he had another tool head with dies already setup. I donít think I have heard of anyone ever only using one tool head and swapping out the dies. But Iím sure that there are.
