Lucid or vortex [Archive]

If you had to choose, which one of these optics would you get? I can get a new lucid red dot with 2x magnifier for 190, or a new vortex strikefire for $100. I have no exp with optic and sure as hell don't have $500 bones layin around for an aimpoint of eotech, so that's out of the question. If anyone has exp with either of these optics I would greatly appreciate your input! Thank you!

I have a strikefire on an armalite. I took it to a carbine course and about an hr in, it began to turn off when I fired. The recoil was bouncing the battery around in the compartment and when it broke contact, the dot just disappeared. I sent it back to vortex and they "fixed" it but it's a design flaw IMO. Also the glass is dim and prone to reflecting any light that is behind you. Its not a "bet-your-life" optic. I wouldn't buy it again. Ymmv.

I'm in the same boat. My knock off XPS is ready to be replaced. The lucid hd7 has some pretty good reviews on it.

I ended up getting a strikefire because it was shims to provide a co-witness, ended up selling that a few months later to get a vortex spark because it is smaller and I wanted to run a magnifier. I couldn't fit my backup sights with the strikefire, that's why I got the sparc.

The vortex is good. It's not an eotech, but for a mid-grade optic, it's hard to beat. No issues with ours turning off.

I run both and they're pretty similar. Quality optics that do what they claim. If price wasn't a factor---Lucid. At the price you mentioned---vortex.

i was looking at putting one of these on my ak47

and getting a "higher end" optic on my rock river ar-15
