I posted this here due to the need or desire by LE for Rifle plate carriers. The hard thing is generally the cost. Yes the plates are expensive but saving money on a quality carrier is a good start. If this is you read on......
There are no shortages of questions about plate carriers and cost vs quality is often an issue. I have been interested in the Shellback Tactical Banshee carrier for quite some time. I was a bit skeptical about the Banshee due to the listed quality of specifications on materials used, the included features but what made me skeptical was the current pricing which was around $100 - $110 on average. 1000D Codura, Made in the USA, Lifetime Warranty, 10"x12" carrier, molle front and rear w/Velcro top, cummerbund or waist buckle, etc, etc, all for a single Benjamin. Hmmmm.....
So I searched for reviews on forums, youtube etc and I found only minimal reviews which really didn't answer my questions. So I went ahead plunked down the money and picked up this carrier as I wanted to go with a new set up that I will use for specific assignments where the carrier will probably mostly be layered over soft concealable armor when needed.
I test a lot of weapons, gear, accessories, etc from absolute crap, to the highest end stuff. I figured if it didn't meet up to expectations out of the box then I could at least send it back. I figured since I really couldn't find a thorough review that I would attempt to answer the questions that I had as well as questions that I did see asked by others. I try to pack in the information quickly but the review is very in depth covering every feature so the review is not short.
In any event for anyone looking for a economical but quality chest rig, you should take a close look at the Banshee.
