My first - and easiest - pick is my Saiga .223 with sport stock, red/green dot sight, BUIS, and a bunch of magazines (mostly 30s and a few 10s for prone shooting). It's fast-shooting thanks to low recoil, I much prefer the rile stock over pistol grips, it's reasonably accurate (moreso than me, without a bench rest), and has been ultra-reliable for me.

I was thinking my Ruger 10/22 liberty training rifle, but I'm actually leaning towards the scoped CZ American 452, since it's the more accurate of the two. I think it's the more dependable small-game rifle, to accompany other semi-auto firearms. I have a second barrel with tangent sights, should the optics poop out.

Finally, I'd keep the S&W M&P 9mm (which I may or may not switch next year, if I haven't yet fallen in love with it). I have way more 7.62x25 ammo, but I can't say I have 100% faith in any of my old C&R Tokarevs or the CZ 52.

I know... I know... I should have a 12ga pump action shotgun, but I think I would prefer a concealable pistol to accompany the two long arms. But, hey, that's me - I'm big on social engineering, so I anticipate a number of cases where I wouldn't want to have a long gun strapped to my back.

My first choices were a little obsessive due to the nature of this specific SHTF scenario.

In these low danger circumstances I would be sitting in my living room drinking scotch and smoking fine cigars.

I would have a G26, LCP, and NAA Mini Revolver on my person.

About the scotch and fine cigars I mean.

I'll take my SPR AR-15, Glock 19, and Remington 870 HD. What more would you ever need?

03-19-2012, 18:04
I found that to be the opposite. My Mini14 fed everything that my AR choked on.

OP- If I am trying to leave and weight is an issue, the AR, a G17, and one of my 357 Smiths.

If I am staying, my PTR91, my 21sf and one of my 870s.

That's a huge consideration...are you staying or are you "bugging out"?:wavey:

I know I already posted in this thread but I have to stick with my Norinco Type 56S for BOTH scenarios.

I think the AK won this challenge OP. The AR just doesn't have the rep for reliability that the AK has and therefore comes in a close second.

My Glock 23 with 3 15 and 3 13 rnd mags - comes with 9mm conversion barrel with 3 17 and 3 15 rnd mags and lots of 40 S&W and 9mm ammo and reloading dies and supplies to load lots more to shoot or barter with.

My Marlin 60 SS 16" 3-9x40 scope 22lr and thousands of rounds of 22lr ammo to shoot or barter with.

My Remington 870 12ga 6+1 with 18" and 28" barrels and lots of 12ga ammo in buckshot, slugs, and bird shot. Dad has a couple reloaders and supplies to make thousands to shoot or barter with.

My TC Venture SS W/S 30-06 24" with 3-9x40 scope and bi-pod and lots of 30-06 ammo and reloading supplies to shoot or barter with. I know, that's four. The pistol goes everywhere and alternate between the 870 22lr or 30-06 depending upon use, hunt food or people.

And since we are at it, I have to include my Taurus 24/7 OSS 45ACP so we have all the basic semi-auto calibers available to shoot, 9mm, 40 S&W and 45ACP, 22lr and 30-06. The only other addition I might make is to get a nice LWRC 5.56 with a complete 6.8 upper for a litter more hitting power.

I know -- I cheated, but isn't it the British SAS motto that "Who cheats wins?" Or, maybe that was "Who dares wins."

I'm pretty sure the AC-130 only has three guns... So I'll just have it. 25mm, 40mm and 105mm howitzer.

Title says it all, if you could only have three guns(guns you already own) for SHTF what would they be? I am talking Katrina type situation, lawlessness, hungry desperate people.

For me it would be(updated),

Glock 19
Ruger Mini 14 or AR15
Mossberg 590

How bout you? Thought this might make for a good thread.

Been through two floods. Nothing like Katrina, but what my wife and I went through was rough enough. Any decent handgun... a 12 ga. shotgun and a rifle (deer gun, etc.) and you'll be fine. Personally I like a 1911 .45 ACP or a S&W 4" 28-2 .357 Mag.; a Rem. 870 12 ga. pump and a M-1 Garand loaded with some nice M-2 ball... or maybe AP. With those three you can really hit a home run!

03-28-2012, 08:39
Pistol- Glock 21 or Glock 22. I prefer the 21 but ammo for the 22 may be more available.

Pump gun- Remington 870 w/ extended tube (12 ga)

Rifle- AR-15, Bushmaster (I'm choosing based on what I might own).

and if I could take a fourth, Mini 14 simply because it's ammo matches that of my AR.

03-28-2012, 10:03
Well if you mean the "End of the World as we know it" kinda situation, my pick would be:

Lever action 30/30
357 Revolver
heck with a 3rd choice..

The fact of the matter is that although I am not in love with any of them, they would remain reliable through the thick of it all.

03-28-2012, 10:27
Glock 18

03-28-2012, 13:52
All I need is one gun. . An Hk Pistol. It's very versatile as with Hk's, you can load your ammo into the magazine facing either direction. .

03-28-2012, 20:44
OK, I will play. Three guns I currently own:

Les Baer 45 ACP TRS 1.5 guarantee
Marlin 45-70 lever 9 shot capacity (great for zombies or grizzly bear)
S&W 357 mag 686 7 shot 5"

03-28-2012, 21:19
Mini 14
Glock 19
Benelli Nova 12 ga.

03-28-2012, 22:16
Glock 9mm Sub 2000
Rem 870

Only two ammos to keep track of...
