LAPD shootings up 29% so far this year.
This is the third time in 7 days that someone has attempted to murder an LAPD officer!!
Maybe some local agency officers can shed some light on what's happening. All of my sources have dried up since I retired.

Condolences to the officer!

I am like you, no sources there. But past history makes me wonder what has LAPD done to PO whom this time?

Not your fault, but this bit of news just pisses me off. When Second Chance first came out, they made it known that the fact that you are wearing a vest should remain confidential. These days, so many bad guys know officers are generally wearing vests that given the chance, they will go for a head shot.

I just wish the whole vest thing would remain something that was not plastered all over the news.

That being said, Los Angeles always has been a violent place to work. Personally, I think we have training and tactics second to none, but sometimes you just can't prevent being shot-- this is especially true if you are ambushed. One thing I can tell you though, is that once it happens, LAPD will spare no expense throwing every available resource at the incident. Yesterday's incident is no exception. We deployed literally hundreds of officers at the scene within an hour of the shooting. We searched every inch of that perimeter well into the night. Very few agencies can throw 400 or 500 officers in a mile square area, contain it, then search it on foot, inch by inch.

Criminals are getting more and more violent and less and less afraid of the law. that needs to change. The more of them removed from the gene pool the better!!!

I agree 100%, but I'm afraid that it maybe too late for things to change, especially when you're dealing with perps who have absolutely nothing to lose, who aren't afraid of the CJ system or LE. We are what's standing between them and their personal freedom....What can and must change is the way WE approach situations and our tactics. We must win every encounter with those that wish to take our lives...PERIOD !!!!!!!!

The more of them removed from the gene pool the better!!!

ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!!
