The eye passed just miles to the west of us and we are having winds up to 80 mph sustained and gusts up to around 100. Once the eye moved past us the winds turned from east to west pushing the sound waters towards us, putting large areas under water.
Terry is trapped on hatteras island, the only road onto the island is buried under sand and is under water. They are also having bad flooding there but last word was they are safe.
The winds are supposed to subside tonight hopefully letting some of the flooding subside.
Power is out in a lot of areas and cell phone service is spotty at best. A lot of damage to buildings and one of our piers has washed away.
Thanks for the well wishes and I'll report back when I can.
Thanks DC,be safe.By Terry do you mean OBXN.'08. :dunno:
Good that you made out okay, amigo.

I finally got off duty about noon today after a 52 hour shift. I can't complain, some people worked longer than me and I got to sleep in a bed last night!
My home was not damaged but we did lose power for 30 hours. I was just getting ready to head to my fathers house so I could sleep tonight (it was about 90 degrees in my place) when the power came back on, my A/C is now running and it's finally cooling off!!
I have to go back on duty in the morning, but hopefully for just 24 hours this time.
Terry was still on duty, I dont know when he's getting home, I heard they are having to fly them off the island in a helo, the roads are washed out.
Glad you and the family are OK....hope they don't let Terry try and fly the helo :wow:
Best wishes to y'all out there.
