Was involved in a shooting recently. I'm not gonna get specific because I don't want to ID him/her, but this LEO was dragged several hundred feet by a BG in a vehicle, injured, and ultimately shot/killed their attacker.

Keep this GTCT member in your thoughts.

Good, this happened twice in my county in the last few years. One officer came out okay and killed the attacker, the other officer not so much.

Went through this myself last month - thankfully my ride was much shorter than a couple of hundred feet. Let him/her know if they want to talk to let me know. Send me a message through this site and I'll get you my contact info. I'm also my department's critical incident stress person and may be able to help.

I am glad that the officer made it home. It is terrible that being injured in the line of duty was the price he had to pay to get there.

My fingers are crossed for a full and quick recovery from whatever injuries he sustained.

I talked to this GTer and they pass on their thanks for the support, guys.

They have some stuff to handle still, so a little more discretion and anonymity is necessary. If you guys who know or have a guess can be respectful of this, it is appreciated.

They will drop in and say hi when appropriate.

Injuries include some cuts, scrapes, bruising, soreness, etc. but no new holes.

A true street warrior I would ride with anyday.

If you are reading - hang in there. It's easy to second guess yourself even knowing 100% in your heart and mind that you had do to it. Be confident that you did the right thing! Talk with your lawyer, your priest, your husband/wife - be careful telling details to anyone else including guys at work.

Try to keep up a normal schedule at home....Even though you may be on admin leave, don't just hang around on the couch watching TV or playing on the computer. Make yourself a little to do list at home and try to get a few things done everyday. Sitting around with nothing to do can start your mind spinning and just getting yourself worried sick.

Prayers with you!

I feel okay to pop in and say thanks now that the indictments that the incident I was involved in is related are public.

I cannot say enough to express my gratitude for the thoughts and prayers. It is a great feeling to know people from my dept. as well as departments from around the country are expressing their support.

Tomorrow is my first day back to work. I'll be training w/the K9 all day, then I'm on days off so it will be a good way for me to ease back into work.

I was extremely fortunate. A lot of variables went my way, most of which I have no control over, which prevented me from sustaining more serious injury or being killed.

As the investigation is still ongoing, I cannot comment on any specifics, but just wanted to give a public thank you to everyone.

We had a similar one here in town years ago - officer last name was Tuten - he also shot the driver dead. He left the force and went to Law School - heck of a nice guy - oddly, he does a good bit of criminal law defense.

The jokes about his name got pretty bad.
