View Full Version : File for a machete?
What kind do I get to put a good edge on mine..I'm new to this stuff.
Thanks.
My machete is a from Ontario Knives, 1-18
For a machete just about anything will work. I use a regular old 12" bastard_file. Because a machete is so long, you can get good long strokes with the file and take off material with little effort and get a very sharp edge.
It's new so no damage...just would like a put a sharp edge on it, but hey it's a machete.
And guys thank you very much!

I usually just use a coarse stone on a machete, unless it is really dinged up bad. The Puck (tm) is a handy one.
I use an old very rough file. I prefer my file VERY rough. I think it helps rip the brush/vines as much as cut it.
