View Full Version : Favorite night sights?

I realize that this is a pretty subjective question and that I will most likely be informed of the search feature of this forum (with mostly older results), but I'm gonna chance it anyways.

I'm a first time glock owner (36) and intend on eventually carrying it after getting my CCW permit. My question to the veteran glockers is about the brand and make of the tritium sights that you prefer. I live in a place where different night sights are not readily available for me to base an opinion on. I would like to have the brightest sights available that work great for both range time as well as home defense. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

One that allows someone to put 2 perfectly placed rounds center mass in da bad guy BEFORE he knows what hit him... I personally prefer..... Ameriglo IDOT PROs with yellow rear..

A real loaded question here! LOL!
I have used Trijicon, Ameriglo, Meprolight, etc. They are all pretty good. The best bet is just to look around.

I personally have 10-8 brass bead sights on my Glock 19, and Ameriglo tritium sights on my Glock 22.

Heine makes fine sights. Check out there web sight. Buy them at Brownells. Expensive but excellent sights. Can't go wrong with Ameriglos Trijicon, Mepros . Tru Glo TFO are CDT visible but the tubes can break or come out.

I just ordered some Heinie Straight Eight night sights for my G29. I should have them tomorrow or the next day. I can't wait. I've heard nothing but great reviews about them. They are the 2-dot type, where you align the front dot right above the rear dot.

I run an ameriglo I Dot Pro orange front, with a 10-8 black rear that has a .156 U notch. This combo works great for me and allows very fast hits while retaining the ability to shoot accurately at distance. I personally like the .156 rear better then any offered currently by ameriglo as all of their U notch rears are huge.

I'm really digging the Trijicon HD sights. I remember reading somewhere that the Ameriglo sights use trijicon tritium tubes and even say trijicon on them. Anyone know if there's any validity to that? The 10% savings on the Ameriglo sights is certainly enticing. Basically, I'm looking at going with:

Ameriglo GL-212-OR-C (http://www.ameriglo.net/sites/default/files/GL212ORC%20copy.jpg) front sight:

You are correct that they are trijicon. And they do say trijicon on them. I actually got the Ameriglo GL-212-OR-C (http://www.ameriglo.net/sites/default/files/GL212ORC%20copy.jpg) front sight and love it. I chose to stick with the stock back sight for now. I love it, the orange is supper easy to quickly pick up on target and the night sight green core is super bright.

Here is a great source for them. Very easy to install with just a brass punch for the back and the front comes with the sight tool.

I have meprolight's on my 19 G4 they are orange/green, 36 has ameriglo's green/green and the 22 and 20 has Truglo TFO's. Of all these I personally like the TFO the best. They are very good in the daylight and show brighter in the dark. I also hit better with them. Next Glock I get I may try a set of straight eight night sights as one of our 1911's has straight eights and I really like them.

Ameriglo all the way. have used truglo, meprolights, trijicon and some that i cant even think of right now. trijicon warranty is not very user friendly. Ameriglo is my top pick, very good customer service, heard they have excellent warranty service, they offer the best price and they have many many different combinations.

I just picked up the trijicon HD sights for my glock 19 and have the yellow instead of orange "preference". I love the sights, like others have said there a bit more, but night and day better "pun" than the factory and I like them more than the standard night sights i have on my 1911 trijicon as well.

My civilian opinion for my glock:

Mepros in two colors so the rear and front are easy to differentiate in low light.

I was trying to figure out the same thing. I have the Ameriglo Hacks on my G19, but wanted to try something different. I like the Hacks, but like a little less light in the sight picture. So, I purchased the Warren Tactical all black rear w/ the tritium front for my G26. I haven't put them on yet, but they look great and the sight picture is nice. We will see how they shoot.

Here's how you do it:

Start a thread with your question. Then use the search button and while you look for results and go through the threads, people will answer your question on your own thread or at least point you to the answer.

It's the dude way.

I use trijicons. Most of mine is green/green. I put trijicons on everything I can. I did make the mistake of replacing the trijicons on my 1993 G22 with an orange rear for contrast and a green front post. The problem there is orange burns out faster, so the rears will burn out before the front post. When that happens I will go with yellow rear sights for contrast, they burn out as fast as green. That is what I did with my G20. I put on a green front post with yellow rear sights. I like the contrast, because in low light and dark, it allows me to establish my front sight faster.

I have now had my Heinie Straight Eight night sights for about 10 days, and I LOVE them. The sight picture is perfect in any light, and the two-dot Trijicon night sights are amazingly bright. It is amazing how fast you can line this gun up in the dark. They are perfect.

Best combo IMO is the Ameriglo GL-433 which is the flat black serrated rear combined with the super bright orange ring around the green optic in the front. Awesome combo on my G27. You can see the orange across the room.

I just put on a set of Ameriglo's consisting of the ProGlo orange front and Pro Operator Rear in yellow. This is my favorite and quickest sight system to date. Ameriglo had them to my door in 24 hrs via UPS too, so nothing but thumbs up for em.

Thats because it is a giant ball.

I've got Trijicons on my G23 right now, but they are quite dim and I will probably go with the Ameriglo Hack combo.

Would this combo work together well? I want to keep sights the stock height front and rear. Or, mainly want to keep the front stock height, guess what I'm asking is this rear sight the correct height to use with a stock height front sight? Thinking about these for my G26.

Trijicon does not make HDs for the G36 unfortunately. Have HDs on my 27 and love them. Went on the Trijicon website to see what model of HDs would fit on my 36 and found that they don't have a set for 36's. Bummer. Really want to put them on my 36.

I have standard Trijicon Green/Yellow night sights in my Gen III G23 ... Love them. In fact if I was a rich man I would be so satisfied with all Trijicon optics , everything thry make is great and tjry make about all you need from AccuPoint riflescopes , ACOG AR sights , Reflex and RMR red dot/reflex styles etc. night sights for pistols shotguns rifles etc. They just happen to be absolute crazyvexpensive.
