NYPD 10-13 Club of Charlotte, NC 9/11 10th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony
On Sunday September 11, at 11:00AM the NYPD 10-13 Club of Charlotte, NC will be conducting a
9/11 10th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony at the CMPD Police Memorial across from police headquarters,
601 E. Trade St.
The NYPD 10-13 Club is comprised of 193 retired NYPD officers and 59 retired officers from other law
enforcement agencies throughout the country, including the CMPD, who reside in the Charlotte
area. More than half of the members were active members in the NYPD on 9/11/01.
During the ceremony, the Club will honor the 60 police officers and 343 firefighters who perished while
saving the lives of others. Additionally, they will honor the citizens who died at the World Trade Center
and Pentagon and those who died on the four airline flights that crashed that day.
The keynote speaker will be retired NYPD Detective Frank DeMasi, who was assigned to the NYPD
Emergency Service Division on 9/11 and was present when the World Trade Center Towers collapsed.
Also speaking will be US Congresswoman Rep Sue Myrick and Charlotte Mayor Anthony
Guests will include Serina Gillis, wife of NYPD Emergency Service Division Sergeant Rodney Gillis,
their children Jonique, Aleesia, Rodney, and their granddaughter Layla. Sergeant Gillis was killed during
rescue operations, when the South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed.
An American flag that was flown over the WTC Center, Pentagon and the United Flight #93 crash site in
Shanksville, PA will be presented to the Charlotte Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 9 for display.

I spoke with some of the local guys still on the job from the area. I'm not good on names, but if you tell me what dept, here or via PM, I may have met him.
