I saw the thread about who was on duty as LE or a first responder during the 9/11 attack in 2001 (great thread, by the way). I though it would be interesting to see who was on duty for the 10th anniversary.
I'm an armed first responder at a nuclear power plant, and am manning sniper towers tonight. My night has been very quiet. Who else was out there on the front lines, and how was your shift?
Im on duty. All quiet there in Vegas. Im sure we all got the same warnings to stay frosty today.
One of my academy buddies was a Nuclear security officer at San Onofre and he had great stories of serious trigger time with select fire weapons and beta-mags!!! It sounds like a cool gig to me for a non-sworn gun carrying job.
Just got home a little over an hour ago... Lucky for all of us the possible terror threats ended up nothing but other then that this night was horrible!!!!! Too much stuff involving kids :steamed:
It was my weekend day yesterday, so not on duty.
I was off thankfully. Actually had a Saturday and Sunday off for a change. Though next month that'll go out the window.
I was on, working a dorm in a prison. Pretty uneventful, both last night and the night before.
The only thing we had worth mentioning was breakfast. I had the ham steak, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit with sausage gravy.
I hope every September 11th gos this well.
Well it started on the 10th like this then on the 11th a truck blew up in a residental neighborhood which turned out to be a HVAC workes truck that the FREEON had ruptured and blew out all the windows in the vehicle. we had a few suspicious packages that we cleared before we pulled the big red handle all in all a relaxing day
All quiet here.
I was in Waco TX for a National Guard drill, wondering if we would get sent to do anything, and remembering how 9-11-2001 changed our lives. We were also getting ready for a trip to A-Stan. On a side note, it might have been my last drill.
Sad that I left the Military to become a Police Officer, and the Military still takes the front seat to many things.
I was working 9/11/11 at my current gig as cop at an amusement park. They did a nice 9/11 tribute during the country music show. They had our park police officers, park firefighter, and some military types come stage during the show, which the crowd reacted to well. We have a young security officer, who is deploying with her National Guard unit later this week, with the eventual destination of Afghanistan. When I found out what they were doing, I got with the Entertainment department staff and arranged for her to bring her Army uniform with her for her last shift at the park, and got her on stage for recognition as well. Have to say I felt pretty good about that.
I worked yesterday. Nothing interesting to report. I had an odd feeling of dread right off the bat as I watched to moon disappear over the mountain -I'm on day shift. Never had that feeling before.
I have the next two weeks off.
my prison was locked down on 9/11.......just in case. was a quiet shift.
