View Full Version : Birth Cert required while driving???
Was told that a small town police dept in my neighboring town had a road check and took 3 different people's D/L's because they did not have a birth cert with them in the vehicle. Said it was a law since 9/11, also said they would have to go through DMV to get their D/L back. This happened in VA
One guy has contacted the FBI and the local Sheriff over it.
Anything to a law like this??

I've never been asked for one. Are you Kenyan perchance?

I imagine like many states a Birth certificate is required to GET a DL but I never heard of having to have one on you when you drive.
Anything to a law like this??
No.
Total Boosheet.
That's some of the dumbest stuff I've heard in a while.

When I was sixteen, I had to show one to Motor Vehicle Division to get my license since I had no history in the DL system. No one has ever asked me for one in context of a driver's license or a traffic stop. I never asked for one either.

New to me! No way I'd want to carry around important personal documents like that. Could be a problem if lost or stolen.
i.e. I don't believe it is a law anywhere.
If your friend's cousin's wife saw it happen it must be true!

This is what I hope the case is. Hope it's a BS story that got bigger as it spread.
Was told......
Birth certificates on traffic stops?
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
But it's on the internet. It must be true.
Did they follow him for 7 miles across 3 jurisdictions first?

In the past when I worked visiting a little I have had people try to visit using that as an ID. Of course my standard answer was, "No."

I would bet there DL's were expired. In that case to get a DL reissued one needs birth certificate and other forum of ID.
There was a big flap about that here. Lesson,,, don't let your DL expire.

No, but they followed his hotass girlfriend without their hats on.

My social and birth cert are in the safe, no way in hell are they coming out for daily use. I dont want to risk losing them. All I have ever been asked for when pulled over is DL and insurance , and we are suppost to hand over our CHLs at that time.

Small town called Glade Springs, it's at exit 29 off I81. My Boss told me this story, happened to a friend of his Mom's plus two others. The one lady is around 70yo. I still haven't heard if it's true as told.

I was wondering if they got pulled over by a whacker, but then reread and saw it was more of a roadblock? Hard to imagine whackers being that bold.
Whole story sounds.... odd...

We get both.
I do love the fact that people go "how would you know they are illegal?" Gee, when you do a traffic stop and they hand you one of those two cards, you've got a pretty good indication right there.
