I picked up some brass at my local range with a head stamp that read Blazer 40s&w. Has anybody had any experience with the Blazer brass? is it suitable for reloading 40 or 9.

Good ammo based on my experience but I don't believe you can reload it.

Why cant you reload it. He said the brass not the aluminum . I have reloaded some of these when they get mixxed in with my brass. Want to say it was the 45 brass but might have been 40. I dont seperate by headstamp so hard to remember which caliber it was.

It's one of my favorites to reload.

Blazer's brass cases are fine for reloading.

Blazer brass is GTG. Their 45acp brass uses SPP and that's annoying.

Use it and like it in 9mm

I have some for .40 and 9mm that I haven't used yet. I also have some for .38 Special that is on the 4th reload and going strong.

I know I don't know you, but I was wondering how you were doing other day. I remember you mentioning things got tough and you moved and had to sell your LNL...

I hope things are going better for you.

here is my comment from my reloading notes, related to 9mm Blazer (sorry, not 40)

by the way I've reloaded a ton of it
"try to use for lead (ya lead, don't tell anyone) as FMJ aren't gripped as tight"

for me, the Blazer seems to be a bit more thin walled and flexible and the lead seems to stick better in the Blazer brass. now I've never had an issue, but I save the Blazer for lead reloading.

my comment has all the merit of an old wive's tale, so take it for what it's worth

I reload Blazer in .38 all the time. Their nickel looking cases last about the same as Winchester or whatever other nickel case. I check my "brass" before I reload it and find Blazers to last 6-8 reloadings before I start to get split cases. All that being said, Blazer does make ammo with a shell casing that can't be reloaded. It is clearly marked NR like this -

Cherokee, how did you determine that the case shown cannot be reloaded? Berdan primed?

If it's brass (or nickel), you're good to go.... I've had good luck with it in 9, 40 and 38.

I'm curious to see Cherokee's reply as well. I've never seen the cases marked "N R"....?

Aluminum-cased Blazer is so marked.

Brass-cased Blazer 9mm and .45 ACP seems to reload just fine.

Heya,

As things went, I was trying to sell all my gear and components as a package to help finance the move from Ohio to Florida, and in a very short time period. I really didn't get much in the way of offers in a couple weeks - a couple of nice offers here and there for some of it, but not "I'll take it all", and eventually just kind of gave up.

But things sort of worked out in the world of finances, and in the end fate decided I'd be able to keep all the guns, the press, etc. Just got it set up again a few days ago... so as soon as I go through all the rounds in my range bag, I'll be back to reloading. Already got a fresh box of Berry's from Grafs waiting on the bench.

Thanks for the kind words. :)

Thorn, welcome to the GunShine state. I used to travel to Tally a couple of times a year when my son lived there. Nice place, but still a bit cool in the winters. Of course, moving from Ohio, you'll love it.

Here is at least one of the warnings. I think it's due to aluminum cases.
