On September 31, 2011 Facebook will start charging you for your account.
Does anyone know if this is true?

I have been using Facebook for about a month for a one-time purpose and should be finished by that date. However, I am curious if continuing users will have to pay to keep an account.

not true.

edit:
you should never enter any type of payment information for anything facebook related. if you get things requesting money for access or features, it's a scam.

Quick rule of thumb for online stuff.

If you get an email for ANYTHING of yours that requires input, be it bank, facebook, email, HOA, whatever, never click on the link provided in the email. Go to the place via your normal route and look to find what the email had to say.

I'd pay them to go away.

I hate FB.

This is 100% true, they are going to start charging a fee on that date. Of course, there's only 30 days in September, so I wouldn't worry too much.

:couch:

As others have said never give any finaical info.

I wouldn't know, I'm not on Facebook, I really don't care if you worked 12 hours and some jerk cut you off.
