So what is the solution to this problem?

I am referring to the web area as that's where the brass appears to get snug and does not finish going into the chamber freely?

What type of rifle? Mil-spec or match chamber? Are you sure your sizing die is correctly adjusted and do you have a case gauge to confirm your should set back?

If mil-spec standard dies should work, otherwise small base resizing dies.

Mil spec chamber.
I have cartridge headspace gauges. The standard resizer is set right for the correct neck bump.
You can actually see the web area has a slight bulge unlike the other 99.9% of the cases.
I think the issue lies below where the resize die stops.

Does a SB die size further down?

In most cases yes, however... Mil-spec chamber, Mil-spec brass there should be no issues. If it's only .1% of you brass, I say toss it and move on... may have been a load that fire out of battery.

This lot of 11K that I am going through is M16 brass so I thought it would'nt be to bad. For the most part, its been east peasy.

I'm bound to get SAW brass at some point. I may just pick up a small base body and run any suspect brass or completed rounds through it as needed.

Thanks boxer.

Since you already have a shell holder you might want to try a set of Lee's RGB dies in 223. I have had none that will not chamber in the 1/2 dozen AR's that I've reloaded for. And.....I pick up lots of range brass so I've come across brass that have been fired in many types of chamber.

Small base dies will nearly always fix this problem.

Boxer,
So how does the SB die resize further down the case when bottom of the standard resizer is kissing the shellplate?

Boxer,
So how does the SB die resize further down the case when bottom of the standard resizer is kissing the shellplate?

It doesnt size further... The Small Base Sizer Die sizes the case from the shoulder to the head of the case a couple of thousandths smaller than a Full Length Sizer Die. In certain calibers it also sets the shoulder of the case back a thousandth or two more than the Full Length Sizer Die.

Oh.
I don't think that's the issue here.
I am backed off of the shell plate ever so slightly, not touching.
So for an enlarged web, a SB die won't help me?
Correct?

I guess probably not.... can you take a picture of the case in your gauge?

The guage is this, not necessarily a pretty photo,

That is a headspace gauge to determine max OAL. This is a case gauge...

Squirreld, what die set are you using? From what I recall, the Lee FL die does a pretty good job at reaching down towards the web. Their dies apparently do not have as much of an entrance throat flare as do some of the other company's dies.

That being said, if the RPU brass is from sub guns (M16), the chambers may have been overly gracious, potentially enough that the brass isn't worth trying to salvage.

On another note, a very close college friend had a nickname of Squirrel. You wouldn't happen to live in SC would you?

I'm in Ohio.
Boxer, I use my chamber as the cartridge guage much like I would use a pistol bbl for a gauge.

Dies I am using, Redding national match 223.
They are not SB dies.
