View Full Version : D/A Revolver for SD
I have always been told not to use a double action revolver in single action for self defense . Why is that ?
BTW.... I love your articles in Backwoods Home Magazine are you still writing for them ?
TacDad, it's because self-defense is an extremely stressful thing. Vasoconstriction tends to occur, stealing dexterity and sense of touch, and hands are likely to be shaking. History has taught us that a cocked revolver is much more likely to go off before intended in these circumstances, with tragic results. Remember, most DGUs ("defensive gun usages") end up in gunpoint situations that don't warrant actually shooting the suspect.
Hence, the emphasis on double action shooting, and the trend toward double action only revolvers.
Yup, still writing for Backwoods Home, available online at www.backwoodshome.com, and also doing a blog for them, www.backwoodshome.com/blogs/massadayoob.
