View Full Version : Best place to get 357 Sig reloading materials
I'm just looking for some input on where the best place is to get 357 sig bullets and brass. I'm new to reloading and am reloading 9mm. I get my bullets from precision delta and they are 79 dollars per 1000 (124 gr).
My friend who already reloads rifle rounds just bought a G32 and is looking to start reloading 357 sig on my press. Where would we go about ordering bullets/brass because I know not all 9mm bullets will work and I'm not trying to find out the hard way.
Thanks guys! This reloading forum has taught me so much. When I bought my first glock last year, I had no idea I'd be reloading myself.
The 357SIG is fussier about bullets than a straight-walled 9, in that the bullets needs a fairly long straight section to be gripped solidly in the 357S's short neck. For practice/target use, I've settled on the Montana Gold 124JHP, from Rocky Mntn. Reloading. Unfortunately both RMR and Montana Gold are temporarily out of stock.
For Personal Defense, the best one I've ever found of the Barnes all-copper TAC/XP 125.
The most-cost-effective PD bullet around, IMO, is the Hornady 124XTP. It performs excellently and costs just over $22/100.
Here's a pic of the 3...

Assuming you have a reloading manual or 3 that contains loads for this cartridge, HS-6 and Accurate 7 work well with all bullet weights you're likely to use; they exhibit very low muzzlefalsh, too.
Powders with high MF and hence to be avoided for PD cartridges include Blue Dot, Longshot, 800-X, 3N37, and Accurate 5. (I'm finishing a bottle of 800X with practice rounds, and its MF is obvious even in well-lighted indoor shooting ranges.
I have images of my 357SIG data and will send them to you if you e-mail me at jeffreybehr(at)cox(dot)net.
I'm interested also. I'm gathering materials to get into reloading and for the .357sig components I'm looking at....
- Montana Gold .357sig 125gr FMJ (1000) $114 shipped
- Starline .357sig Brass (500) $92
- CCI Primers (1000) $30
- Powder ???
For practice/target use, I've settled on the Montana Gold 124JHP, from Rocky Mntn. Reloading.
Did you try any of the new MG 125gr JHP for the .357sig yet?
Awesome thanks! I'll definitely look into those rounds.
The MG 124gr GMJ or JHP is your best bet bought in bulk You can get by w/ the Berry's or Ranier 9mm 124g/FP, but you'll have to keep vel below 1300fps if you want any decent accuarcy. Powders, I currently like Longshot, but PP, BD, AA#7 & AA#9 all work well.
