Remington 870 loaded with six single O buck shot + 5 more on a flexible cuff.

Next time I go to the range I plan to burn these rounds and start fresh with Fiocchi reduced recoil OO buck in the tube - can't decide which round I will keep on the cuff - maybe some nice 000 buck shot & reduced recoil slugs.

I picked up a couple cases a few years ago and know the patterns pretty well. Backup is a Moss 500.

I got the 500A locally and it was beat up badly so I cleaned her up and decided to add the Warhammer rail system to it just for shnits N giggles. The Warhammer rail mounts quickly and the two side rails towards the end are removable. I opted to take them off after the pic and just use the rail for optics for now. The heat shield that came on the 500 was rusted out so I trashed it and the Warhammer rail serves the same purpose but with the ability to mount sights. I think it makes the 500 look like a beast.

I'm pretty sure I ordered it thru CTD online.

I rotate between two:

1) Benelli M4, Aimpoint
2) Vang Comp Mossberg 590a1, Surefire forend with integrated light.

I usually load the Vang Comp 590a1 with low recoil 00 buck. The Benelli M4 usually gets full power 00 buck, though I have been transitioning to full power #4 buck lately. In gelatin testing, #4 buck is so destructive it's almost scary.

Nice. I hope to have my Saiga complete this weekend which will be fairly similar to yours. The basic conversion is complete. I went with the UBR for my stock and have the Chaos Titan with H&K sights.

I currently have a Mossberg 590A1 with the Knoxx recoil reducing stock and Surefire forend. I'll try to have pics of both posted when the Saiga is done.

Mossberg 590 with SpeedFeed stock. 8 rounds Remington low recoil/buffered 00 in the tube, 6 more on the Mesa side-saddle, and 4 Winchester Super X 10x slugs in the stock.

In all honesty, I would probably reach for the SBR before my Mossberg. Smaller, lighter, and I'm more comfortable behind the pig than I am the shotgun at this point.

I gave heavy thought to the Titan rail, but with my budget I just couldn't justify the added $150 for only 5 more inches of rail. If the cost of the Titan alone included the sights, then I definitely would have opted for that. Maybe in the future I'll end up ordering the Titan top section. For now, the extended quad works great for me. They are built very well IMO. I hope Chaos decides to eventually build some rails for other AK platforms, because I'd love to put one on my Yugo.

The Saiga is a hell of a lot of fun to shoot! Can't wait to see how yours turns out when it's done.

Mossberg Maverick with 20" barrel, M4 style adjustable stock and pistol grip, Sidesaddle, and flashlight, loaded with 2 3/4" buck. I've found this has just the right balance and weight for me. I leave the fancy red dot sights and lasers off though. I don't seem to ever miss with the bead as it is.

I am considering swapping to buck and ball though. Just can't argue with its raw destructive capability, but I'd like to get some practice in before I bet my life on the performance of new ammo.

I've got a Mossberg 500. Sling, night sight front bead and a side saddle. Also has a surefire flashlight mounted to the tube.

I have a matched set of 7-shot 870Ps with Speed Feed 1 stocks. Five in the tube, empty chamber, safety off, Remington standard 00 Buck in the tube, 1 Remington Foster in each side of the buttstock, and a 6-shot butt sleeve with more 3 Buck and 3 Fosters. I download slightly because I don't shoot much anymore, and feel more comfortable that way. I still have 13 rounds on board, plus more in the scabbard.

I too am intrigued by the Brenneke KOs, but feel confortable against humans with Fosters.

I am shocked that nobody uses #1 shot! In all the reading I have done, it seems that it is the perfect load out of a 12 ga scattergun.

I guess I'm the cheap guy here. I run a plain jane H&R Pardner Pump "Protector" model loaded with 5 rounds of Winchester Super X 00 Buck from Wally World for home defense. I do this because:

A: It works just like my issued 870 Police
B: It's built just as solid as my issued 870 Police
C: I'm too lazy to drag my issued 870 Police in, and out of my car daily
D: I paid about $200.00 for it brand new, and wouldn't be terribly upset if it had to sit in an evidence room for a while following an event where I used it for its intended purpose

Mossberg 930 SPX - M930SPX with standard cheap-o Dick's Sporting Goods strap sling, tactical zipcord and key chain ring forward mounting system, LimbSaver recoil pad on stock, Aimpoint Micro R-1.

Go to load, Hornady TAP FPD 00 Buck. Absolutely awesome. In mid-to-late 2010 the Dick's Sporting Goods stores closest to me, both the Jersey store here in Princeton and the PA Store across the river, had a huge amount of TAP on closeout. The sticker price was $13.97 a 5 pack. It went down to $8.97 and I bought a few boxes for keeping as my HD/PP rounds inside the gun. two days later I had returned to Dicks for something, it was down to $5.97 a 5 pack. I think I bought all I had the money for, which was only like 12 more boxes. I have since shot most of it because it literally was cheaper to shoot this at the range than my other 'bulk' buckshot packages but I have a loaded gun and two or so boxes left of it.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST ROUNDS I've fired through my shotgun. the patterns are amazing, all the way out to the 25 yds my indoor range is. I don't know if this is considered "reduced recoil" but in practical application the recoil from this round is much less than say, my Walmart-standard Winchester SuperX 2 3/4" 00 Buck 15 packs. I can BUST CAPS with this round out of my M930SPX and be extremely accurate and low muzzle climb etc.

Also this is a big feature for me. The rounds are physically shorter than a 'standard' 12 gauge 2 3/4" round, it therefore gives me an extra round. This is very important for me in Jersey... we can't have autoloading shotguns with magazines more than 6 rounds. There is a lot of debate on the interpretation of the text of the law, if it means 6 total rounds in your semi or 6 in the tube, the actual mAGAZINE, etc. Anyway, when I got the M930SPX it wasn[t supposed to be sold to me since it's 7+1. So I had Choate make me a +1 to replace the factory installed Choate +3 mag extension. And then the better orange nylon Choate follower.

So with regular rounds my gun is 5+1. But with Hornady TAP FPD I can fit 6 in the tube. Sounds like , WTF is the difference right? But hey- that round can be the round that saves your life, you never know. With ghost loading and TAP I can have a loaded M930SPX with 8 total rounds, that is a beast of a bad mofo coming to bear on badguys.

My agency provides Remington 870 shotguns with rifle sights, extended mags, and Federal Tactical 00 buckshot.

At home it's a Mossberg 500 with Remington 00 buckshot.

Question...why do ya choose the 500 over the 870?

A simple Remington 870 with Federal 2 3/4" 00 buck. If that don't get it, I'm at the wrong party. Here's mine right after locating walnut replacement furniture (hate plastic), sanding it down and adding two coats of BLO. I love this gun. :)

Mine is a Mossberg Maverick 88 with 18.5" barrel and Knoxx Reduced Recoil Adjustable stock. It looks exactly like Steve in Az's shotgun pictured on page 1 of this thread. The difference is mine is 5+1.

I currently have Sellier & Bellot #1 buckshot 2 3/4" and Remington #4 buckshot 2 3/4" shells. I'm sure either one is sufficient for self-defense.
