... for my G21 with a x300. Why? I dont know. I'm just stupid like that. I thought it would be amusing to try and ccw such a big friggin gun. LOL. To ccw a G21,... ok. To ccw and G21 with a light,.... ehhh. I think im pushing it. I basically made this holster just to see if I could really. Im not even allowed to ccw in my state. If I used this holster it would be for a steel match. Anyways,... its 90% done. All the functional stuff is done. Its all cosmetic from here on in. Just sand a ton of sanding and polishing to do. I hope you like it. I do. I use to do alot of stuff like this back in the day with a lot more tools and machines. I miss it so much. I have s@#$ nothing now. Only basic stuff. I made this in my bed room:( Oh well. Im going to make another one for just the G21 after im done with this one. Then im going to make some nice sheaths for my knives. Its made of 100% kydex.

I've never quite seen a setup/design like that. So good job in doing something "original".

Thank you:) There's not much more to be done. Just have to sand and polish, maybe do a little bit of shaping. Thats all. It's going to to look nice when its done.

It's not! I have been wearing it for a few hours now. Only when I sit down is it uncomfortable but thats only because im wearing the gun behind me. I love this thing. Im totally ditching my leather Galco for this thing. Im going to make another for my G21 without the light. Im in the process of making a video for this holster. Showing you guys the holster a bit. I dig the "kickstand" concept. Props to you man. I wouldn't mind test wearing one of those. The main thing I hate about hip holsters, is the tendency for the weapon to lean out regardless of the holster

Is that why everyone likes IWB holsters? To prevent that from happening? I cant wear my pistol in my pants. The idea just doent to to well with me. That and all my pants are kind of on the tighter side:/

With this holster the gun doesnt really lean outward. it stays dug into my side. The only time it appears to lean outward is if im sitting down and leaning forward. But thats me leaning forward not the gun leaning back. It works well. I might go ahead an remake that 4th piece with the tab. Might try and improve it some, maybe. But first Im working on the second holster. This one will holster the G21 without its light. So far the design is very cool. It looks very minimal. I'll see about getting the mockup pics up on here.

I like it. As for the other post, I am not sure about the IWB carriers, but I think it's because it conceals really well. Like you, however, I can't carry inside the waist band... have tried it and I totally hate it. So far my kydex has turned out to be the best, but I am always looking for better. LOL. Can't wait to see this latest one and how it turns out. Would love to try one of yours out. Are you anywhere near San Antonio?

Ok the shell is pretty much done. I just have to clean out the inside more because it holsters a bit snug. Probably as snug as I would have it if I was carrying. The holster has retention screws so I want it to fit loosely when the retention screws arent being used. I have to sand it down as well. Goign to get some sleep then start making the mounting hardware.

Took me a bit to figure it out, but now I see it. It doesn't shape to your gun like others do because you're using some really thick kydex. Not sure I like this last one at all.

cvriv
10-06-2011, 01:39
I dont really want the holster to be molded to the gun. I want it to have a universal shape to it. Slide in slide out. No click or snap to it. Dont judge yet. It's not done. I still need to make mounting hardware for it. I just got done grinding this shell.

Also,... thicker kydex is more forgiving. I can grind away imperfections. I can clean up its shape using it's thickness. So far I like it. Its design is tight. kind of like a glove for my gun. It's well thought out. This thing is going to conseal real nicely.

Does anyone know of anyone who makes custom kydex holsters for money? I was wonering how much one could make for a nice kydex holster such as the ones im making now for my pistol. I was throwing around the idea that I would take a few orders. Not sure though.

Lots of people. Crown holsters, raven concealment, and some other individuals. Browse the web and ebay for custom kydex holsters and that should give you a pretty good idea of what the going rates are. Raven's are the most expensive I've seen.

On that subject, I need some good Pancake Wings... you seem to have some good thick kydex. I'd like a set like ravens... think you can do it?

Might be easy if you just buy the wings from them. Its kind of hard for me to make something for something in which I dont have. You know what I mean? I was hoping that maybe someone with a G21 would maybe want a holster from me. Or maybe one of my local buddies because I could get thier pisol from them and design a holster using their pistol. I was just wondering if there was a lone guy out there making holsters here and there for money. Charging what raven charges wouldnt be worth it for me. These holsters im making take a few days to make depending on what I am making. What I do is more custom work than anything. Custom work is using a lot more because of the time involved to do it. Costs more than what most are willing to pay. Oh well.

looks like nice work. people who were selling kydex molded holsters on here were generally selling them for 40-55 dollars if i remember correctly. i bought one for 50 off a local guy, but ended up selling it. really nice holster and really well made, but just wasnt my thing.

I dont like the molded holsters. They look cheesy in my opinion. Simple 1, 2, 3, and the your done kind of work. I dont like that and thats why I dont own any. I like well thought out well designed stuff. I try to be a sophisticated as possible without going to overboard.

As done as this holster is going to get. Holsters the gun beautifully, fits and feels amazing as the first one. A total win. I am not going to sand this down like I did the first one. To be honest I like the rough finish. I have to make some mag holders now. I think I'll make 4 of them. My buddy wants a few mag holders now for his Sig 220. I need to get these done by the 16th. I'm shooting my very first IDPA:/ Kind of nervous. After Im done with all these Im going to make one last holster for my brother who is serving in the army. He wung by the other day and saw them. He loved them. Said if I made them molle capable and threw in a locking feature that I could pitch them to the military to see if they would want them. Im not going to do that. but what I am going to do is make him a war worthy holster for his Beretta m9. Going to go overboard and ptu myself to the test. See how much I can get done with the **** nothing I have to make these. It will have a push button style lock. It will be molle compatible. It will be worthy of war. I will try and limit how much finishing I will doo. Meaning cleaning it up. I want to remove the least amount of kydex from the surface as possible to retain holster thickness. Strength. I have to use larger bolts and insert threading. And the lock,... and molle,... havent figured that out just yet but i'll figure it out. Going to take my time because the last thing I would want is for it to fail him. I will get pics of the whole process and even get pics of him wearing it in full uniform. First things first,... I need a beretta m9 blue gun.

Fits so well. It's very comfortable to wear. Im wearing it right now for my fully loaded pistol while sitting in my chair and I hardly even know its there. Stays flush with my body thanks to the 4 belts loops and the lower tab thing. Oh yea,.. my brother loved the tab. Absolutely loved the idea of it. He definitely wants it on his holster. To help keep in pistol stationary on his vest.

I updated both of the holsters I made. The tab I made to hold the gun up against my body started to annoy me after a whole day at an IDPA match. So,... I made a beaver tail/ paddle looking thing to be used with the tab so theres more surface area against my body. This way I wont end up feeling like something is poking me. Works great. I also made mag carriers as well. They are not perfect. I can do better. I kind of did them quick because I messed up a few before these. I got frustrated. Not having the right tools for the job really pisses me off. So yea. They are simple. Theres no real retention devise other than heating the front and back then pushing in until theres enough retention. It works and its rock solid because there are no movable or flimsy parts.

I actually bought 2 bladetech double mag carriers before making these. I was adjusting the little bar in the back of one to accommodate my 1.5" belt when a tab on that bar broke! I lost it at that point! I got the other one to adjust and tried it on. I hated it! It was so uncomfortable because of it's length on the belt it wouldnt wrap around my skinny little waist. Thats when I broke down and gave these carriers I made a second go.

Let me know what you think.

Honest feedback.... those holsters look clunky, over complex, and generally speaking, like a refried turd.

I think the people who called them 'interesting' probably have similar thoughts but wanted to spare your feelings.

A fun project, sure, but I see absolutely no advantage over many of the currently produced commercial products, which are both simpler and more aesthetic.
