I only plan on buying one if I do indeed get one.... What's the best BANG for my buck (no pun intended)?

-One that will work on all my railed models (G19, G23*, G30)
*have been hearing .40cals don't like light attachments

-Don't want "el-cheapo" but not spending the price of a decent firearm on one either

-A quality product with a reputable name

Suggestions fellas?:wavey:

TLR-1. Can find it on sale for < $100 sometimes.

The .40 issue was primarily (only?) with older G22s. Never hard of it happening with G23s but someone who knows more can chime in.

Very happy with this. Don't let the price fool you. I shot about 500 rounds with this on and it didn't even budge. You can shake your gun around by the light and nothing will move.

Absolutely the Streamlight TLR-1 models! I had others asking what kind of light I had when mine was putting their Surefires to shame at my last night qualification.

Good deal on them here... Chief Supply - Streamlight TLR-1s (http://www.chiefsupply.com/1997-Streamlight-TLR-1S-LED-Weapon-Light-w-Strobe-And-Batteries.aspx)

I purchased several light/laser combos, my favorite is TLR2 because of the solid body, hold and bright light and I absolutely agree with the previous posters about the performance and everything... However, just to be on the safe site, I would not put it on any polymer full size frame gunÖ Compact and large size frames are OK to accept metal frame lights as far as I know but I can be wrong of course Ö I find it to be more of reliability issue than changing the cover plate with one with sign on it Ö
My spin on it is: yes, it is a great light, lots of people are using it and there is nothing wrong about it if they shot with it and know that their guns are not experiencing any problems, but also they are serious problems reported when this light was mounted on a Glock pistol, so itís a no for me if I have to use it with reliability in mind.

If youíre looking for light only, Streamlight makes two models Ė one that uses normal size AA Lithium batteries ( http://www.insightlights.com/products-aa.htm ) and one that uses 123 size Lithium batteries with the same specs (http://www.insighttechgearstore.com/m3xledpive.html )
Both models are with polymer bodies, they being proven not to cause any problems when mounted on frames that flexes hard during firing, such as Glock, plus I like the quick release on the first model, Iíll probably get one of those combos for myself, I donít like to deal with looking for quality 123 size batteries, and they are more expensive too.

I like the TLR-3 I got for $65 at retail. It's the smallest. I'm not a hard use light guy or expert. I like the fast put on and remove of the X300 more but for a dedicated light staying put on a house gun, my TLR-3 seems pretty good.

I had bought a lightly used M3X a couple of years back for $60 but it was the old fashioned kind. I wanted a new LED weapon light but did not want to shell out a lot of money. I just got the LED upgrade for about $50 from cheaper than dirt, very bright! The only thing I dislike is the finish on the bezel. I'd say it's a matte gray. I'm going to call CCR & see if they'll refinish it.

I picked up a wx150 for my 17 last year iirc I payed $139 shipped. I wanted a light the I didn't have to fumble around with easy on, easy off no screew to mess with. And it dosent stick out as far as the tlr. Glad I got it when I did because the price has risen since.

TLR-1 or TLR-1s.

I have the 1s variant on one of my AR's and on my HK 45. I love this light. Very durable and very bright. It's built like a tank, costs less than a overpriced Surefire and is built just a good!

For the comparable Surefire product, you pay another $18.12 per letter.

Streamlight all the way! :wavey:

Another vote for the Glock brand light/laser combo. I know its not the most modern light but it's very bright for a non-led, and the batteries last a long time. The laser has kept zero since I've had it. (Probably three years) Tons of rounds through it with no issues! And call me dorky, but I like the Glock factory light look! Goes well with the gun! Not too cheap though....

Streamlight TLR-1.

You can spend more money, but you won't get a better light.

I've compared it side by side with the Surefire X300. The TLR-1 is slightly brighter, and I prefer the way the switch operates on the TLR-1.

TLR-1 retails for about $110.

Glock TLR-1 Failure - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYqOc_Fld5Q)

Does the TLR-1 screw on to secure it or pop on w/ a pull down release like the M3 from Insight Tech?

Looks like in the video the guy is turning something into place to secure it and unscrewing it to release it? (????) IF this is the case, could he be putting it on too tight and squeezing the frame enough to cause the failure he is showing?

I've too heard of .40 Glocks having this issue w/ UBLs in place, but I thought I remember the failure being something other than what was shown in the video ? (FTF, failure to battery?)

Anywho, I have run an old M3 Insight Tech light on both my G21 and G35 back in the day when I still had it (the G35) and shot it EXTENSIVELY on my G21 w/ NO problems. I have also tried it on more than one occasion on my G23 and 34 also, still w/ no failures. I honestly have shot it on the G21 more than anything else (I really will NOT shoot my G21 w/o it, as it is my HD gun and I leave the light on it all the time, so I want to know how it feels and shoots to always have it on there for practice), but again NEVER w/ and issue with it.

They (the M3) are still pretty cheap too now that the LED lights are out and that I/S also has the M3X out now too.

I want to get a new one too, but the price of an LED one bothers me, and if I can't swing one I probably will just try and either get another or the M3X for now.

I have no experience with lights on guns but I'm giving serious consideration to the new Crimson Trace light guard. It activates by gripping the gun, no need to distract yourself with flipping a lever. It's the only light that makes sense to me, but of course this is all on paper, I've never owned a gun light.

MSRP is 150, but you can likely find it cheaper than that.

I use this when I put my CC G22 on the dresser at night:

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/115227/safariland-rapid-light-system-weapons-flashlight-mount-for-970-to-1060-diameter-lights-fits-picatinny-rails-polymer-black

It goes on and off quickly, is rock solid, and will take any standard 1 inch diameter weapon light you choose. The flashlight mounts with a screw clamp so you can't quickly take just the light out but I had a couple of lights laying around so dedicating one to this was no problem.

I activate the light with my thumb from a normal grip and it flip locks in either direction so will work for lefties as well as righties. It's a standard pic mount so I've even thrown it on my AK and my 12ga just to see and it works great there too.

Won't work for holster use but for nightstand duty, I love it.

Yes, .40 cal Glocks + light have equaled problems in the past. I thought they straightened those out, though I could be wrong. I didn't think it was a particular brand or type of light though; I thought it was any attached weapon light, though again, I could be wrong.

X300 is better built side by side with the trl

X300 snaps on no screw on,, better package , lifetime warranty
Not sure if the trl is or not?

Brightflashlights.com has good prices on surefire

Also another brand , lumma force has decent lights on the cheap
Might goggle them. I have thier big light with like 6 modes and strikeforce end

Its pretty cool , but not close to the build of a surefire

You do get what you pay for,, i love my x300 and e2d defender, thier little back up light
