Gen 4 G31 recoil spring in a Gen 3 G31?

Could a person buy a Gen 4 G31 spring assembly from Glock and run it to reduce
recoil in a Gen 3 Glock 31?

I'm told that he Gen 4s have softer recoil than the gen 3 G31s.

No. They are different sizes. The hole in the end of slide on the gen 4 are bigger to accommodate the new gen 4 recoil spring assembly.
