These crimes have nothing to do with legal gun ownership. If it was that simple, Anchorage would not be near the top of the list of most dangerous US cities. It has everything to do with socioeconomic situations and drug related crime. Surely a cop from Alaska would know that. Taking a narrow view of gun control issues does not help us pro-gun citizens, it just makes us sound ignorant.

trying to prevent crime by making it harder for descent folks to buy guns is like trying to prevent drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to buy cars.

schitcago is what it is.....a sewer.

Dear D.C., Maryland, Chicago and New York City:

Thank you for your tough gun control laws, please keep up the good work!
[...]
With such anti-rights localities for neighbors Virginia becomes far less attractive to the bad guys and a much safer place to live.

Anti-gun politicians in Illinois like to keep their herd in check. We need a real governor here in Illinois making decisions for the good of the people.

Burleigh, we have castle doctrine as well in Illinois, but as far as self-defense law, here in Illinois, we have no requirement of retreat. That being said, we're justified in using reasonable and/or deadly force if we believe the other person really wants to do us harm, we just can't use a firearm outside of our home (literally not in the garden, or the garage, etc), which frankly is just plain stupidity.

The current Chicago mayor has pretty much adopted Daley's stance on guns, and get this, he's closing three police stations this year. I got a couple of LE buddies who've pretty much concerned getting the force too stretched thin, and most cops around here are pro-cc. My work takes me outside of Illinois often which for myself is fine, but this means leaving my family behind and I worry about them.

I look forward to the day when I can move out of this tyrannical state or CC passes, whichever comes first.

Chicago residents pay for the leadership they get, or get what they pay for...I didn't say corrupt, just my disclaimer...

The pro-gun governor candidate won EVERY county except one, and he lost the election.

The entire state is subjected to the will of Cook County, which always votes for the candidate that wants to raise taxes on working people and corporations, and hand out more food stamps, state jobs, and welfare.

Kinda sucks.

But you see the nice thing about DC is that there are laws to prevent this. There can be no illegal guns in DC, they are ... duh ... illegal.

So ... either there were NO shootings in DC and the media lied,
or ... The guns were legal, and traceable, and the perps will be caught.
or ... Gun control is bogus and does not work.

Pick one!

I think it was two, not one (I'm probably wrong anyways, don't feel like confirming right now), but moot point, the guy unbelievably still lost. I remember hearing Quinn on the radio talking about something (I forget at this time), and he said "well, the people of Illinois voted for me and I...". Sorry, just tuned him out at that point.

Regarding Cook County, well, it's ran by crooks. Would love to see the books where all the money's going.

Welcome to the Soyuz Soviet Socialistica People's Republik of Illinois!

In Chitcago, Crook county, IL, Last year or the year before, over the 4th of July weekend, a period of about 72 hours, something like 63 people were shot and 17 were killed.

I can't leave Illinois right now due to family obligations, but as soon as I possibly can, I am moving to Texas, Arizona or Virginia. People are fleeing Illinois. Companies are fleeing Illinois. Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels said that it's easy for Indiana to look good when its neighbor is Illinois.

The State is so broke that it is right behind Greece on the road to default and the Governor wants to borrow more money!

60 years of Democratic Party rule in Illinois has destroyed the entire State!

Ill stay humbly in Washington as well as Oregon, they maybe a bit liberal, but at least their gun laws aren't ever under attack. I wont frequent places that restrict personal safety of lawful and responsible individuals. I would rather not go on vacation to lets say, Chicago, Los Angeles or New York City for the simple fact I don't like being robbed nor assaulted. I also don't want to be arrested for defending myself either.
