I spy with my little eye, a new Glock in a certain caliber :whistling:
I'll be taking it to the range this weekend along with some Georgia Arms ammo. My SwampFox defense ammo should be here soon.

Awesome! I recently picked up my G29 SF and lately it's the only gun I'm carrying! Taking it backpacking in the High Sierras tomorrow for a five day trek. Bear insurance.
I carry Winchester Silvertips or a Cor-Bon concoction around town. Just had SwampFox send me some 200gr. Hornady XTP bear pills. What a great pistol. Enjoy..

Mattwestm, congrats! That shoud do you proud! The G-29 is a stunningly usable small pistol chambered for a superior ballistic cartridge..."The 10mm"~!~
Good choice!
I Wish I was faster. Hopefully the ammo will make it to you before you leave for the trip.
Thanks
Mikei
comgrats! and welcome to the club!
Once you try the good stuf you won't backup to the mid powered stuff. Jmo lol

Thanks Mike. I'm not going to get too wrapped around the axle if it doesn't make it in time. I've got some stuff that will work. Seems to me it's the noise that runs bear off. Rarely does a hiker need to shoot 'em dead. I appreciate your efforts and the great stuff you make and if I miss your loads this trip I'll certainly make use of them this winter.
I just had my 29sf backpacking in the sierras and felt good having it. Lots of bear scat around camp, but never saw one. Swamp fox and buffalo bore are awesome.

Anyone know of a company that sells 10mm range ammo that's loaded to full power? I also thought about picking up some reloading equipment, but the upfront costs are high.

Congratulations on your new gun, I plan to have one soon.
As far as reloading, if you don't plan to make huge amounts of ammo, a used single stage press and components are not that expensive.
I still load .41/44 mag on a single stage. I will prep, size and primer 100 rounds, wait till later or the next day and add powder and seat/crimp bullets.
I just saved about $30 right there.
Otherwise someone will chime in and steer you right about your ammo purchase.

Yea, but, 5 years from now, you will say, Wish I'd done this 10 years ago!
Congrats on the G29!

Congratulations on the 29SF. I purchased mine recently and love it.
I did some quick math about the reloading. From my perspective, it would take about 2400 reloads of 10mm ammo to reach the break even point. That would be for range ammo. Most likely quicker if you prep SD or bear defense ammo. Based on getting good quality reloading gear. Purchased new.
Just my $0.02 worth and of course YMMV.

This ammo is 180gr doing 1300fps. It's rated at 1250 but that is a conservative number.

I plan to re-use brass at least 10 times, and since I don't shoot loads "at the edge" the brass should work even longer.
Assume 10x of re-use, $85@500 amounts to under 2cents for brass cost each reload. Bullets can go from 13cents each to 18cents for range ammo. Over all, each round costs less than 20cents.
If you load to 600-700ft-lbs energy, that is a lot less than what you can buy them for (at least 70cents per round). Conservatively, that's 50cents per round I saved.
The whole set of reloading hardware can be around $200. So it will pay for itself around 400rounds, conservatively.
Economically, reloading is a fiscally responsible option. (I had to tell the other half that story to get permission!)

Mike, it made it! Thanks! My wife recommended having it shipped to my hiking buddy's house in Carson City, NV. It got here this morning. I drove up this evening. Super excited about having the G29SF with me. Our area this time is supposed to be full of black bears. I bought the 29 specifically for backpacking and it's headed up to 12,000 feet with me tomorrow morning.
My buddy, not really a gun guy but not incompetent, asked me to bring him a gun too. He'll be carrying my G27.
Thanks again Mike!
Awesome! That sounds like a lot of fun man!
Im by no means the type of guy that kills animals just to kill something, like the types of guys that go spotlighting...those guys give us real hunters and outdoorsmen a very bad name! But, I gotta say, as bad as this sounds, if I were up there with a 29 and some hot swampfox ammo, Id almost hope for a bear encounter! Haha, I know that sounds awful and incredibly dumb! But I just cant help but want to give the 10mm a try in a real world situation like that! Is that bad?

Congrats on the 10mm!
I want a 29sf next! I got a 20sf now that will be my hunting side arm for all the same reasons mentioned here. but with a 29... hmm.. it could replace my g27 for edc!

Please give the details on what can be purchased for $200 for reloading. I just bought a G20sf, 50 rounds of target ammo, and 100 rounds of swampfox SD stuff. I found some remington umc here for $200 for 500 rounds. I plan to shoot the ammo, then reload the brass.

If I were going to start reloading, I would probably just pick up a Lee Anniversary kit, case lube, bullets, brass, powder, primers, 10mm dies and a caliper. I think that includes just about everything you need to get started. All of that can probably be picked up for under $300 depending on how much brass and bullets you need.

(I picked up my G29 Saturday)
Also used equipment is available all the time. If you have a local outdoor forum with a swap & sell section, I see it there often.
Many times it is someone who just upgraded.
About 30 years ago, one of my wife's relatives asked me if I needed a RCBS Rock Chucker press! He had got it in hopes of reloading but never used it.
I still use it for some rifle rounds and small quantities of other stuff.
I have a Lee Classic Turret I use for 9mm,.38 spl and .45 acp that I shoot a lot of in practice and competition.

I need to read up on reloading so I can understand what all of the parts are. I see parts for sale, and I don't know what part they actually play.

The Cabela's Lee kit seems to have better components than the regular Lee kit. I know the powder measure is better. A set of dies and you are ready to go.
You might even be able to find a cabela's discount code, I get $20 off $150 offers from them all the time.

You are going to want to add a new 10mm to keep it company.
Reloading is the only way to go if you want to actually shoot. Lee presses go for 150 range around me, I picked up one 10 years ago and its still going strong.

I have owned two different G29's in the past and have since sold them off. I've also owned a G20 before the G20SF that I just bought. The only Glock 10mm I have left is my G20SF. I don't plan on selling it.... and strangely enough, I have no burning desire to buy a G29SF since my G20SF fills BOTH roles, carry and hunting/range. When I had a G29 ONLY, I constantly longed for a G20SF. Now that I've only got a G20SF, I'm content. I'm sure that will change again someday... I guess my point is, I think I've found my own personal niche. I've got my G20SF for my Glock-fix and my dream pistol, a Fusion longslide.
PICK YOUR POISON, guys!

I finally got a chance to shoot my G29SF. What can I say... I love it! It definitely has more recoil than my G30SF, but it's not uncontrollable like some people say about the 10mm. I fired about 150rnd of Georgia Arms 180grn FMJ without any hiccups.
I kept all of my brass for when I start reloading.
A G20SF is on my list for sure!
Good to hear! Knew you'd love it!

Congrats!! I just got mine yesterday; ordered some Winchester Silver Tips 175gr, and picked up some BVAC 180gr JHP's for the range. Once I get reloading equipment for the 10mm and an aftermarket 6" ported barrel I'll be shooting almost reloads exclusively except for defensive purposes.

Smart man to save that brass. Brass is the most expensive component to buy once you have all the essentials.

I get the same error from my work location. Probably due to parked domain and/or malware on his site. Mike probably isn't aware of anything on his site... but there may, in fact, be something there.
This issue keeps popping up, he's worked on it a couple of times, and said if it happens again to let him know. So you may shoot him an email just in case he doesnt already know about it...

That is a remnant of the malware problem.
The filter on the posters system is still blocking due to the malware problem.
I have restored the site from an earlier clean copy and deleted the forum where the malware was
located. Then Had google to recheck and they say it's clean.
