Well, I guess I must have pressed the "IGNORE THIS POST" key somewhere.

Anyway. Problem solved.

I found a "shellshocker" $199 deal over at Newegg that included case, mobo, proc, 4G of ram and a 450W power supply w/ free 3-day shipping.

I couldn't beat it with a stick!

And, thanks for the IGNORE - no, really!:wavey::supergrin:

That is a pretty sweet deal.

Win 7 is supposed to be much more lightweight than Vista was. While I haven't tried it, it is supposed to run on XP machines without trouble. I'm not sure on your second question.

As it's a irrelevant, cool! :)

Posting from the NEW $199 PC and windows 7.

Building it from the NewEgg parts took longer than installing the win7/32 Pro.

It's a frigging flamethrower!

She'll be happy...

You made the right choice. 7 64 bit is much better. You will thank yourself later. Or now. Lol

Actually, I stayed with win 7/32 on this machine. I have 7/64 and so does the boy.

She's using this for browsing and word processing.
The kid and I are game-a-holics with quad-cores.

Ah, I am the same way. My wife has the beater duo core and I game. 32 is ok but I run it on one of my work machines and it has little quirks that get annoying in an increasingly 64 bit world. But, for what she is using it for it will be fine. I do love 7 though.
