Special Duty: General's Aid?

Anyone here every do any special duties as a General's aid? My wife and I are both active duty cops and are both looking to do a special duty outside the career field. She was looking into a special duty as a General's aid. Culinary and hosting has always been an interest of hers.

So here are my questions:

What was it like?

How do you put up with a snobby spouse/kids, if you get one?

What are the hours like?

How was the travel?

If you could, would you do it again?

Don't know firsthand, but my wife had a friend that did it at Offutt. To hear him tell it, it was great. But he warned that he got a good GO to work for, the GO had a family so he understood family. Hours were a bit harsh, and if the GO travels (and they do... a lot) he was tight there with him. The GO loved him and they got pretty close, he stayed with him for 10 years, then got his choice of assignments to retire at.

Heard some horror stories of some GO's that were divas, crazy hours, and requests. But with as with anything, who knows what could happen.
