Found this on the Facebook page of my town's version of Occupy Wall Street. It is Denver PD with their party hats and bats.

The guy in the red hoody makes me smile a little. He's trying so hard to look tough, yet, he fails.

" yea, come on pig, come at me, come at m...AHHHHHH! Just kidding! Just kiiiding!!!!"

That's because in his little hipster mind he's thinking: "They can't hit me. I can do ANYTHING I want and they can't hit me..."

Are you sure that is Denver?
When I left (nearly 22 years ago, so things may have changed) our helmets were way different.
Plus, I see a hint of a shoulder patch peeking out from under padding, and Denver does not wear them.

Any idea what those light blue straps are?

Flex-cuffs.

Ah, I still have a few of the old white ones.
Very stylish. :)

I guess the photo could be the entire Metro unit (SWAT) - I think they might have shoulder patches these days.

It's not Denver PD - it's the State Patrol. That's our Class D uniform, patch and turtle suits. We got those blue cuffs recently too. I recognize some of those goons.

Looking sharp. I wish we had riot gear like that.

BTW, the guy in the red hood looks like he is staring down the smallest guy in the line.

They best not piss off the CSP.

We know how well that worked in Ludlow.

I had CSP pull me over in my patrol car once. To be fair, I might have been exceeding the speed limit a tad, outside of my jurisdiction. :whistling:

That officer should be proud of himself, although I'm confident you'll never understand that.

Yep. Unarmed peaceful protestors.

Thank you for assuring us that no anarchists have traveled from out of town to intermix with these hipster losers. Not a soul in that crowd with a backpack. Because not one of the anarchists in other cities have brought bottles filled with urine or other missiles to throw at the police.

Pull up some riots on Youtube. You will see what can happen when things go wrong in a crowd, when the mob mentality sets in.

Educate yourself.

Sez the man (?) who needs a military base to keep his "city" from being a Southern cesspool . . .

Occupy Phoenix looks like more fun

He looks upset that the local constables are ignoring him. Of course, with all his "kit," $10 a month at a local gym seems a bit too expensive for him.

I'm not LEO, but it seems unwise to me to line up like that. What if some yahoo on a rooftop has a 30-06?

Are those helmets bullet proof? I remember seeing pics of the Nazis line people up before shooting them so they could get mutiple kills with one bullet.

We got brand new ballistic helmets with the DNC money a few years ago so those are the standard issue now.

It was a mixture of State and DPD down there. I was stuck a block away providing security for the DSD vans.

Back about then my PD had a bunch of protests. One of our retired guys told me a story about those days.

When they were in the midst of all these protests the chief decided they needed crowd control uniforms. The only thing they could come up with on short notice was leasure suits from the Sears in the next town over. The only color they had enough sizes for everyone was yellow.

So they sewed on patches, badges and nametags on their yellow leasure suits and went forth into battle.

I can tell you with a fair amount of certainty that there were anarchists mixed in with the calm peaceful folks. Those anarchists were only there to cause trouble and not to protest anything. The were even spotted with baloons filled with some sort of liquid (usually not water). I could be wrong though because it's not like I was actually there....

We once had an Estonian inmate who was all about doing the protest thing, and the more of a racket they were able to make, the better as far as he was concerned.
