View Full Version : DD Omega Rail Cover Options

So, to those who own the Omega rail (not the Omega X) I have a quick question about the rail cover options. I've seen in certain reviews that it's hard or impossible to add slide-on covers on the Omega due to the handguard cap remaining on the gun. Is this true? Are Omega users limited to ladders and Magpul XTM? Is it impossible to add Troy and KAC rails on without removing the handguard cap?

I realize this might really be a super silly question, so just bear with me. I'm curious about it.

Excellent! So you had no trouble sliding the KACs on? I like the look and feel of the KAC and Troy.

I use ladders on all of my rails.

I switch back between the ladders and the XTM panels. I might try the KACs though. I did not realize until reading this that they would work.

I use KAC and Larue index clips. My Reece has a combo of them both but my M4 I use nothing but the Larue index clips. The index clips are my favorite and cover more surface are than the ladders do and dissipate the heat much better too. I have posted this in a similar thread before and here are some comparison pics, you be the judge of what you like best. I hope this helps....... :wavey:

I discarded my end cap when i put on my omega. it really doesnt serve a purpose once you put the rail on. I am using the ladders that came with the rail and they work well. They dont help much against heat but they do smooth out the rail and it feels nice.
