I have been seriously thinking about picking this optic up for my new build. It seems like a do it all scope. What does everyone think? It would be great to get some insight from someone who has used or is using it. I am impressed with the reticle.

Burris Tac 30 or MTAC.

I have the MTAC and it's great for my needs and has a lifetime no bs warranty.

Tac 30 $300
MTAC $400

MTAC has a much better illumination knob. Worth a $100? Up to you...

It was to me.

I like the concept. I would prefer a 1 x 6 over a 1 x 4, however I wonder what could justifies a $600.00 jump in price for magnification increase of only 2. I sure canít.

What is the warranty like? Not finding anything. Still made in China? Won't touch a made in China scope without a very good warranty.

Not made in China any more, only his generation 1 series was made in China. The 1-4 are made in South Korea, the 1-6 is being made in Japan. I believe Ed was also looking for an American manufacturer as well, but not 100% sure on that one.

Not sure how long he warranties his scopes for, but from what I have seen he has a no questions asked policy. He replaces what cannot be repaired at no cost. He is a good guy, prior military and current fire fighter. Offers military, LE, FF, EMS discount.

Scope page says 2 year “limited” warrantee.

So the extra $600 is because it’s made in Japan v South Korea? I presume that if he finds a US Co. to produce them they’ll suddenly become $2,000.00 scopes? They/he is a little too proud of the 1 x 6 for my taste.

I can't comment on the extra cost. But I suspect you are correct, if he does find an American manufacturer, his price will likely increase.

Is the extra $600 justified for a 1-6x? I'm not sure, I've never used his optics. The 1-4x optic however is only $375. As far as I know of, this is the lowest priced horse shoe reticle with range estimating features, aside from the Tac30. Personally though, I don't believe the 1-6x optic holds any significant advantage over the 1-4x other than target ID.

There is a very thorough review by Big Jim (http://www.grscinc.com/assets/GRSC%201x6%20review_big%20_jim.pdf). It's in PDF format for downloading.

I don't think you realize that a 1-6 is much more difficult And costly to make than a 1-4. That extra price is typical.

His 1-4 scopes may be made in China or South Korea but that does not mean they suck. You don't know where the glass comes from. Generally, in scopes you get what you pay for. The lone exception is brands riding on their reputation and charging more than they should for the quality provided (cough Luppy).

I have no firsthand experience with GRSC but he has a an excellent reputation. His scope is probably priced just about right for the quality and warranty provided. I have heard he stands behind his product even after warranty but again no firsthand knowledge.

I dig the reticle, and I really like the looks of the scope. Its exactly what I want to try on my MK12 SPR.

However, I'm not paying 1K for a 1-6x scope made in Asia, when for the same amount I could get a American made scope with a few more options, and a better warranty.

I have been using a Swarovski Z6i 1-6x scope which is very expensive. But I will say the 6x is nice. It makes the tougher long range shots easier. I also own a Trijicon TR 24 1-4 scope and I prefer the Swarovski 1-6. To me the 6x is worth it. I have not tried the scope in quesiton. One of the shooters at the club I shoot three gun at has one. I will have to take a closer look.
