View Full Version : Shotgun modification
Can an older (fixed choke) shotgun be modified to shoot steel shot. I have an Ithica 12 gauge SxS that I'm thinking about moving to one of the forward racks in my shotgun safe but, on public land, steel is required. Any info appreciated folks.
It would cost more than a new barrel.
If you can find a 'smith to do the work, he'd measure the thickness of the barrel to see if it's feasable.

Midwest is a good one, also check out Carlsons. They make choke tubes for most anything.
I had them repair a barrel for a Browning A5 that had been butchered with a Poly-Choke...aka "Dial-a-Duck".
This is not a job for a do-it-yourself-er, it takes skill & the proper toolling to do it correctly.
