yes, its true. I am 1911-less.

I finally sold that Custom Shop Operator. I just lost the 1911 bug for now. I've owned several 1911s over the years (3 regular Springers, 1 Kimber, a Dan Wesson, an Ed Brown and the Custom Shop Springer) - I'll probably buy another one day in the future. I don't see myself spending $3k on a single gun again, though.

Yeah, just spending $3000 on 6 more Beretta 92's instead. :tongueout:

Hahaha... No, I'm not gonna do that...

I am saving up some nickels and pennies for another Beretta.

But of the $2500 I got, I plan to use $500 to go towards a Philli trip to go see the Flyers hockey team next year. The other $2k stays in the new gun purchase fund. I may buy some sort of 5.56 rifle... I am contemplating a RRA piston carbine. I wanna play with one again before I decide, though.

I was gonna get a SCAR - but by the time I buy that and the optic I want, I'm back up at $3k.

I rarely shoot the two rifles I have. I really don't need to spend that much. And, I am debating if I even should bother buying another rifle or not...

This is the most depressing post I've read in the 1911 section in quite some time.

One 1911 for me. One Beretta. Three Glock's. One AR. One shotgun. One Mosin-Nagant. I've tried to spread my collection around, but have the guns I have fit particular "needs".

I've come to the point where I'm happy with what I have and want to shoot them all more. I want to put thousands of rounds through each, enjoy them, learn new skills, compete more, etc. Also, with what I have, customize, as I see necessarily fit, to make each weapon better.

Like my 1911, I'd like to get another, but I don't have the need. Want? YES.

I'm still deciding what I want my 1911 to be, my Loaded Park. I got it as a 'starter' 1911. Anything I want done to it, of course, will cost. I know for sure, tightening fit, installing match bushing, and an action job. Everything else I'd like done is just cosmetic: new finish, various checkering, blending, etc. The pistol functions 100%, I'm just wanting to wring out a little more accuracy.

That Springer was the baddest 9mm 1911 I've ever seen!
If I were closer I would have bought it,.......

Well, I've owned pretty much everything at one point or another, since I bought my first gun in 1993. Some things, I've owned more than once. I don't get that attached to guns anymore. What was my fav gun 5 or 10 years ago is not my fav now. Beretta 92s are my current fav.

I don't really see much that grabs my attention anymore. So, other than collecting Berettas, I'm not really chasing after the next and the next and the next handgun anymore.

Yes, for a 9mm 1911, it was pretty cool.

Naw. I still have a Colt O1918 that will be kept forever and a 9mm SACS gun that is still for sale.

I hope I don't go down the 1911 road again. Very expensive.

My two favorite handguns in order is the 1911 and Beretta 92s. Sorry to hear that you sold your last one but I'm sure you'll have another one someday. The best platform for someone may be Berettas, Sigs, Glocks, etc and you'll always revert back to what's best for you. No matter how many other handguns I've tried, I always go back to the 1911 for all of my needs. I have found that I really like Berettas as well so I try and keep up with both platforms equally. All in all, its personal preference.

If you really want to have people talking, your next 1911 should be a PT1911 in chrome with gold accents....I know Bac will love telling you how great it is. :whistling:

That's first on my list of future 1911s... That and a set of spinner hubcaps

No way I'd trade/sell that for a bunch of Berettas. But to each their own.

Restoring the 1911 balance. Next week I should be getting my first 1911 since I sold my two Colt Series 70 repros about 5 years ago. It is going to be a Springfield GI. I want a 1911 again, I just don't want to have that much money tied up into them. He'll be back.

I didn't say I was going to buy a bunch of Berettas with the $. I plan to buy one more Beretta, buT i already had 1/2 the money saved for that purchase. And while I do prefer my Berettas, I already have a "bunch" of them

Well whatever the case, there's no way I'd own a bunch of berettas and go without a 1911.

Eh, good for you shipwreck! I have to say that your Springer was pretty sharp and I had even considered PMing you about it more than once. I had gone as far as just about making a deposit on a custom shop OP 9mm and backed down and went for an STi Trojan 9mm. I like 1911s just fine, but they just don't do it for me for much other than a nice pistol. I see an awful lot of nice 1911 pistols posted in this subforum, I guess it is nice to not be addicted to one design over another!
