Rut Report

Here in southern Ohio I think we're still in pre-rut activities. Scrapes are staying clean and still appearing. Small rubs appearing. A lot of activity around but it must be all during the night because neither me or my buddy are seeing many deer during daylight.

I am planning on hunting in WNY after next week and have been hearing there is some isolated chasing going on up there. I'm hoping I'll land in the middle of the rut up there and be able to come back to it down here.

As of last weekend bucks were still in groups.

Have not seen a buck in about 7 months :wow: and I'm still counting . Rut for us southerner, is and can be year round in the South/Central Florida parts, with the peak around Sept/Oct

I'm just hoping at this point; to see a deer .......and any deer at.

Couple fresh rubs and a new scrape seen today, have one camera out as a kind of a joke, but have actually recorded a couple does and 1 young/small forky. I know there are several does moving through and bedding down in my woods, so no worries.. will fill the freezer again this year I think..
