I have been thinking about the ChargeMaster for precision rifle. Currently, I trickle charge each load and, frankly, it's a PITA.

So, for those who have this device, how accurate is it? How close to the desired charge will it get?

When I trickle, I try to get right on; not 0.1 gr high or 0.1 gr low. Because of this, I often have to take powder out of the pan and trickle again. It takes a while.

However, the bullets all go in the same hole so there must be something to the process. This Savage 6.5x284 Norma is far less than 1 MOA with good loads.

Don't waste your money. You should get the Prometheus Powder Measure. Why upgrade twice.

It's about $2000. Here is a nice video.

I don't own one, but would like to someday. Don't know if you have seen this, but it's about enough to convince me that it does what it should.. Looks like an awesome piece of equipment.

That's a great video of the Chargemaster. I certainly like that Hornady beam scale a lot more than my cheapo RCBS.

I thought $400 was a lot of money for a dispenser. My wife would have me commited if I spent $2k on one.

I need to do a little more thinking but. from what I see in the video, that dispenser will do the job.

I love mine to.
Have had mine for about 6 months now.
Around 8K rounds through it.

I've used a friend's Chargemaster with good results. I have a Lyman DPS III, and like it. The Lyman seems to me to be the more accurate / less fidgety of the two, but that could have been my unfamiliarity with the RCBS. I can tell you the down sides of the Lyman right now - long warmup time (30 minutes - I rarely shut it off) and it's a pain to clean out / change powders.

If I could have a do-over, I'd likely get the RCBS. I had no trouble with it, and it seems to get good reviews across the board. I wasn't timing them or anything, but it seemed the RCBS was a little quicker too.

I will say that any of these (including a PACT) will still be plus or minus .1 grains. Normally, you'll be right on, but depending on the powder, you'll have the occasional charge a tenth over.

The chargemater 1500 is the way to go.
I have had mine over 3 years and it is spot on.
It is also programable.... as in features they don't mention in the manual.

The speed of despensing is adjustable and the scale is spot on without drift.

It can be a very complex machine if you really get into it. Or it can be basic one touch dispensor, but it does it all.

Here's mine... when new.

What it looks like now 3 years later... way in the right hand corner.

Would not be without one. Of all the write-ups that I have read the RCBS is the best one. Right now Natchez has them for $300.00 and RCBS has a $50.00 mail in rebate.:thumbsup:
