Just so this didn't get lost in blueiron's other post-

http://www.azcentral.com/community/g...-dies-brk.html

Brad Jones was a good friend of mine, although he was on patrol our paths crossed almost daily. He was always joking, had a mischevious smile and was quick on ribbing people. He was a good, smart officer who was well thought of.

Brad, as always I enjoyed our last conversation, wouldn't have been the same without you teasing like always. God bless your family

RIP Ofc. Bradley Jones #15227

Spent the last several days doing vigil's at Brad's house and at the mortuary. I had the honor of the last watch with Brad throughout the night and loading him into the carriage this morning. The funeral as a whole was moving as I have found all police funerals to be. The weather called for high winds and rain, but we had beautiful weather for the graveside service. I held it together pretty well until Amazing Grace and completely lost it during his Last Call.

I was moved to see many officers from around the country- Chicago, San Diego, Portland and I am sure many more. People lined the streets during the long procession and the genuine emotion I saw in the faces was moving to tears.

Our department has only done 2 funerals in the past 20 years and we are (unfortunately) getting better at them, although I hope we quickly get out of practice.

Truly what we do in life echos in eternity...Brad will be remembered for his outstanding humor, sincere dedication to his family, mischeivious smile and desire to serve. I was blessed to have known him, to spend several days watching over his family and finally to spend the final watch with him. Thanks to all for the prayers and wishes.

I was at the funeral of Tempe detective Tim Barber several weeks back. while I was there as a family friend, since I am out of the game now, I have never been more impressed with the hundreds of officers from around the Valley that attended....some from Glendale. Phoenix, Tempe, Chandler, Maricopa SO, DPS and so many more. No matter the shoulder patch, we bleed blue together.
