"Police say a 19-year-old man pulled a gun on the driver and tried to rob him. That's when the delivery driver pulled out his own gun and shot the suspect three times. The 19-year-old was taken to the MED in critical condition."

Memphis is a good place to get killed if your not carrying.

I didn't know Hi-Point made a .380.

Glad the Good guy fought back (funny how the dunce said the Pizza guy was just "delivering a pizza" and turned around and started shooting at him..lol).

Sadly, this poor guy is gonna lose his job, and in this economy, that's not an easy thing. I hope everything works out for him.

Very, very true. No way I would go to Memphis unarmed.

True.

Pizza deliver has long been a hazardous job. It's a wonder that more drivers don't go armed.

The robber told police that he was crossing the yard when the pizza boy opened fire on him....come on, you can do better than that.

I know of a few drivers, myself included that carry. I am glad that he decided not to be a victim after what happened a few months back to another one of our drivers at a different store. I hope all goes well for him. We will see soon enough.

From the article: He told police that he was walking toward the street when the pizza guy started shooting at him.

His sister told police that her brother had asked her if she wanted some pizza because he was about to order some, according to the report. <-- BUSTED

A dangerous job indeed. A pizza guy died earlier today in Bloomington IN.

That's not what one deserves for doing the honorable thing and working for a living. That's not what one deserves for doing the honorable thing and following your employers policy of not being armed on company business/property.

The fault lies with the scum that robbed him. Vast majority of pizza deliveries go smoothly with nothing bad happening. He tried to do the right thing and roll the dice and lost. He deserves no blame in that.

As for the guy this thread is about, good shootin!

Papa John's robber special, add extra topping of lead for FREE! If first two rounds are not delivered in a 30th of a second, get a third round for FREE!

Add Nashville, Cookeville, Crossville, Smithville, Sparta, Chattanooga ..and so on...to the list of places in Tn I wouldn't go unarmed.

I chose to move here and enjoy the good that Tn has to offer. But my God! I have never seen such rampant violence and everyday crime. Meth and pills are a pandemic here.

That's what he gets? He deserved to die because he wasn't carrying? Wow, this forum never fails to amaze me...

Agreed.. that was a very tacky remark.

What he should "get" is a paycheck for working, and not have to worry about some scumbag shooting him over a few bucks.

I left feedback on Papa John's site urging them to change their policy, citing this incident. I'm sure it won't do much good though.

Odd..

Not once in the article it mentions anything about the robber being a "good kid" who "wouldn't do anything like that" that was just "mixed up with the wrong crowd."

Yeah, but I'd rather live here than in some socialist craphole like IL, NY, MA or CA... Even WI has finally got their collective heads out of the up-and-locked position.

When they say "right now the victim is not facing any charges" are they talking about the delivery guy or the guy who got shot?

Robber got charged. No charges for delivery guy. Maybe the locals ought to chip in and get him a bigger gun...

I am surprised the Commercial Appeal even wanted to report this, since they were so anti CCW about a year ago. This proves to them that hey a citizen can go armed and stop being a victim.

For those that are not from the Memphis Shelby County area the Commercial Appeal had a site on their website where you could type in someones name and see if they had a TN Handgun Carry Permit. Which was a violation of privacy in my view. Also, their were alot of disputes on carrying in parks etc. that were demonized by the media, mainly the CA and its editors.

While I don't disagree, thats something you need to fix at the legislative level, not by ranting about the CA.

Is not IN a very easy state to get a carry permit? If you know your job will put you as a target for criminals why would you not be armed? I know what I said could be seen as heartless but it's the truth. Some times the truth is heartless.:whistling:

While Indiana is very easy to get a permit, saying someone got what they deserved because they did not arm themselves, when they were just trying to do a job.. Is possibly one of the most asinine things I've ever read on this site.
