I am ordering this rear sight for my flat top upper and I want a front night sight that will fit on my rail. I am new to AR's so is there a certain height I need to worry about to match the DD rear?

As long as it's intended to mount to a freefloat rail it'll be fine.

It's when you try and stick a rail on a gas block (which there are multiple heights, none standardized) where everything goes screwy.

DD makes a front as well, Troy also makes the flip models.

Eyeballing the photo, it looks like the gas block rail and receiver rail are not the same height. You'll need a front sight specifically made for gas block mounting. Probably this:

This is the issue that Mr. Murphy was describing. That upper will not take a standard height rail mounted front sight that is most common. You will need one specific for that gas block height.

Will this work for me?

You'd have to call them and see specifically.
