Here in Virginia the Senate has been Democrat controlled. They manipulated the Senate Rules to establish a sub-committee, the membership weighted in their favor, to review all bills related to firearms and specifically all bills related to carrying firearms prior to submission to the full committee. Very few bills made it to the committee last session.
The push this election was to take control of the back and eliminate that committee. Unfortunately, we didn't win a majority, only a possible tie with R=20 and D=20 (The Lt. Gov. is Republican). It has come down to one Senate race. With 100% of the votes in, the Republican challenger, Bryce Reeves, has an 86 vote advantage over the Dem incumbent.
This is big for those who carry in Virginia. While a majority would insure passage of pro-carry legislation, 20+1 to 20 means anti-carry bills will have a much tougher chance of getting through.
How did the election affect carry in your state?
