What's a ballpark price for a Dan Wesson 10mm cbob bobtail w/ ambi safety in very good shape?

Thanks Alan

Alan I paid right around $975 for mine back in 2007, you might want to check out the Dan Wesson forum's on one of the 1911 forums out there, Google is your friend.

I hear the used CBOB's are selling for more then that now and no mine is not for sale.

I recently saw a like new 10mm Cbob sell for $1k

Many would think that was a very good deal.

They have gone up over the last few years. I sold mine in excellent condition w/ Larry Davidson grips and 5 mags recently for 1K.

I'd be surprised to see one for under 1K, especially in 10mm.

Thanks Folks! How much should the ambi safeties increase the price over a CBOB without them?

Little to none

Thanks, again.

Anyone know of one for sale, preferably with an ambi safety?

Alan, finding one is going to be a challenge in and of itself. You can always add an ambi at a later time.

Here is one. (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=260496384) Opening bid of $1400 seems a bit steep, but you can always email him and negotiate.

I'll be in the market for one next year myself.

Thanks for the info. Price has dropped to $1375. :-)

As much as I love my CBOB, $1375 sounds a bit rich. Heck last year you could pick up a 2010 edition, I think it was a 5" Black Valor in the $1500 range, with some better parts, fit and black finish.

Didn't sell. Auction ended yesterday afternoon. Has not been relisted.

Plan to e-mail the seller and see if it's still for sale, and a what price.

Happy weekend! Alan

Alan you might want to PM Dave Severn's over on the Dan Wesson Forum in 1911Forum.com.

Be careful about asking in a Post over there though, they are somewhat touchy about for sale ads or wanting to buy in the forum itself.

Dave is a dealer as well as a gunsmith, very knowledgeable with many happy customers from what I've read. Given enough time he might be able to line one up for ya, and if it were me, I'd pay some extra and have him go through it and fine tune it. Probably worth every penny.

Otherwise good luck with that online seller? You never know and it doesn't hurt to ask or make an offer.

Thanks for the info.

Guy in the For Sale subforum is selling one for $1600. < 100 rounds through it.

That's > than I am willing to spend. Have not heard from the gentleman, who was auctioning the CBOB on Gunbroker.

Happy Tuesday! Alan

The price of any 1911 chambered in 10mm perplexes me. What specificlly in terms of accuracy reliabilty 8 round capacity makes these weapons double or triple the Price of a Glock 20 or 29? I cant imagine 500. 00 + more value of these weapons other than barbeque guns. Not being critical just dont understand.

Texas, it's mass production verses custom made, along with "Whatever the market will bear"

Good old fashioned capitalism at work.

Is a 1911 worth two or three times as much as a Glock?

For many years I solved that issue by owning 2 Glock's at the cost of one 1911, that is until I could afford the 1911, fortunately for me, I now have 2 1911's, but I had to sell my Glock's in order to get there.

While I like Glock's I don't particularly miss them and as long as I can afford it I prefer the 1911's.

Just a few reasons why I prefer the 1911 over the Glock.

Fit's my hand better.
Much slimmer.
Easier to carry and conceal.
Much more accurate.
Much easier and more pleasant to shoot.

Mag capacity is not a real concern for me, with a reliable Tripp's 9 round Cobra mag I have 9+1. I much prefer single stack semi's for width or the lack thereof and I don't feel undergunned with 8+1 standard magazines.

No BBQ factor for me, my 1911's are hard core woods and city CCW and range guns. Working guns.

Don't get me wrong Glock's are good guns I like them and for the money you simply can't beat them, great value, and if I had more money I'd own both.

I'd really like to customize a G20SF.
