I was asked by my son, "what is does the 45 in 5.56x45mm stand for?". I am embarrassed to say that I could not answer the question.

After 30 minutes of searching I still cannot answer the question!

So I will ask the experts.

What is the 45 in 5.56x45mm?

the lenght of the case in millimiters, which is 4.5 centimeters.

According to the specification the length of the case is 44.70mm. Being an engineer I did not round up.

After you fire, the case will round up by itself to 45mm.:supergrin:
