View Full Version : What's the national rate of felony reoffending?
Of those convicted of a felony, how many go on to be convicted of another felony?
I found a study suggesting about 45%. The data covers inmates returning to prison. Obviously it would not cover people not imprisoned, but seems like a good starting point.

Heard about the San Fransisco City Council wanting to give tax breaks to businesses willing to hire newly released inmates. Makes me wonder if the city could be on the hook for any liability that comes with that.

Before I retired I assisted in forming a Carrier Criminal Apprehension Section.
In research forming and justifying this section of Detective Support Division a study came up with the number of criminals arrested by LAPD on felony charges who have gone on to offend again and that number was approximately 60%. That's just for the city of Los Angeles.
