For reading, check out Green Eyes and Black Rifles by Kyle Lamb. Retired operator and instructor, all around knowledgeable and good guy.
I have had great luck with my Rock River NM trigger, but I know some people have had issues with them. For they money, though, mine has been a great trigger. Check out Geissele, as well. I'm partial to the SSA, but they offer several different triggers. More expensive, but fantastic triggers.

As WoodenPlank suggested Kyle Lambs' book is very good info.
Another good book is "Gunsmithing the AR-15" by Patrick Sweeney
Online m4carbine.net I am new to the AR so I have got a lot of good info on GT and M4

My first was a stag also. Great looking ar!
Congrats!
Get rid of that Magpul front sight and get a Troy or Midwest Industries gas block height front sight. You want the most distance you can get between your sights. Better yet get a Troy front and rear BUIS. Spend the money, and thank yourself later,
whats wrong with the magpul one?
is it just that you think i should utilize the railed gas block and the MBUS isnt fit for it?
I really like the mbus and wanted to keep the sights how it is.
I was considering getting an optic.. but at this point i dont really want to spend any more money than i need to on the rifle.
Just ammo :)
Congrats!
Before spending any more money swapping this and changing that, I would do some more reading, and go shoot the thing first.
