Finally finished my SCAR 16S! I was debating getting an Elcan, but was turned off by the fact that the Elcan was $1800, I'd haven't had that much experience with them, and the fact that warranty work would've been a hassel due to Elcan being in Canada.....not to mention a 1 Year Warranty with an $1800 optic is bull****.....

So I ended up staying with what I know an love, and did the logical thing and bought another ACOG TA31ECOS........I did change it up a little bit and get red illumination this time. I also added a killFlash SRD-LFU, and a flip-cap so I could use the ACOG as an OEG if needed as well.

I then added a SureFire M300A Scout Light, Tango Down SCAR Rail Covers, a Tango Down Shorty VFG, and a Daniel Defense Rail Mounted QD Socket. I'm done other than the Blue Force Gear Sling Adapter that I can weave through the SCAR's integral HK Hook loops.

Of course, here are the pics- I'm taking it out next weekend to shoot.

Darn, I was near there for business last year... I wondered why I saw smoke and heard thunder up north.

You think it's bad there, try where I live. We hear 25, 40 and 105mm on a regular basis, along with the occasional MOAB. :wow:

Ok, so it's been a while since they dropped a MOAB here, but it has happened.

I still can't get over how freaking strange the ACOG ARD looks.

It does look like the ACOG ate an Aimpoint, huh?

The LFU (Laser Filter Unit) that screws on in between the actual killFlash body, and the portion that goes into the ACOG itself makes it look long.

The LFU is on there just for the heck of it, I suppose. The LFU does work very nicely on especially bright days though.

Eglin AFB, I presume? I was stationed there for a year and a couple months. Fun times at Destin Beach.

"Om nom nom" says the ACOG.

Is it possible to use the ARD without the LFU? If so, any chance you can post a photo?

It's possible. The LFU is just a "high-speed" item I've got on both my TA31ECOS's because it provides another layer of protection between the killFlash, and the ACOGs glass....its nice on sunny days too.

Not my pic, but this is how the TA91 (RCO killFlash) looks on an ACOG without the Laser Filter Unit screwed on between the honeycomb and the actual killFlash body that locks into the objective lense housing.
