My off duty piece is a P239 in 40. At work it's a Glock though not by choice.

I bought my P238 to carry but it hasn't proven itself yet. About 150 rounds through at its first range session and about 4 failures. It feels good in hand and shoots nice, is accurate and lightweight, but not reliable enough ... yet.

I'm hoping another couple hundred rounds will clear that up and it'll be my carry weapon.

I don't know if your asking me if I'm looking for something or not but the answer if so is no.
I've carried 1911's for many yrs and I have in say the last 11 months or so been carrying a P220r sse and love it.
But I keep getting Sh-- about it from the guys at the ranges where I Shoot and from my old dept.
So I have about 4800 hundred flawless rds thru it so far and it's accurate as hell. And The guys all say BS the new sigs are crap you gotta get a german one.
And ten when I said the was originally made by the swiss I really catch it.

Sometimes I carry my 220 with slim grips. Never had an issue with it. Accurate and dependable.

We issue the P220ST as a duty gun and P239 as back up/off duty. I occasionally carry one or the other Glocks while on my time. When I do, it is almost always the much hated and despised G38 .45 GAP.

I prefer to carry my 229 but my g23 is easier to carry so thats the compact that gets the most play. My p290 is the easiest to carry that I own but I prefer to carry a compact.

I bought a 9mm P228 (W. Germany marked) for my girlfriend because it was the best fit for her hands. She still doesn't carry it very often but only because she isn't in the habit of carrying. But it is a really good shooter!

239 9mm&226 9mm over all other autos. I like the DA/SA and hammer and they never jam and shoot more accurate than the others. And its the first chioce for most special ops units and commando,s world wide. The Navy &Seals just bought a new batch of them and been using them since 1986. I think there best 9mm out there bare none.

I'm thinking of adding another sig to madness which one do you think?

The P226 Elite Stainless, Or the P226 Elite dark?

I like the Beavertail and I don't have any 9mm's.

I would most likely carry this after a 1000 rd's or so.
I think with the right ammo a 9mm makes a good carry Caliber.

BTW the weight as far as a carry gun makes no difference to me I carry a 3LB 1911 or a p220 now.

I shoot my P239/357 and P220/45 better than my other autos.
Still carry my Glock G27 and Kahr MK40 Elite though.
It just depends on what I'm wearing, where I'm going and
what kind of mood I'm in that day.

My Sigs are keepers for sure!

Is there something you don't like about the P239 for an edc gun, or are you just wanting to try something new?

I looked at many new and used SIGs before I bought my SP2022 in 9mm, including a P239 that was used but like new, but the final decision came down to the SP2022 having almost twice the capacity, and was significantly cheaper.

I carried a P229 in .357 sig for a few years before swapping out for a Glock 32 and Glock 33. I love the Sig and didn't want to put any more wear on it than I already had. It is a better shooter than the Glock, way better overall gun in my opinion. The Sig was my first gun purchase so it has some sentimental value, the Glock is just a tool that I do not care anything about as far as wear and tear.

No, I just get gun-itis from time to time.

The FTU guys would always hate to see me coming, because I was always wanting to see what new gun they had I could check out or trade up/over for.

I got issued a Glock 17. I carried it for a while, but also carried my personal P226.

I then traded the G17 for G19, which I carried in a ankle holster as a backup.

I then bought a Beretta 92F, I carried for a while until it was taken off the approved list a year later.

Then I traded the issued G19 for an issued P228.

Then I bought a P239 9mm (two of them actually) and started carrying the 239 as an ankle gun.

Then I bought a P220 to carry, and I traded my issue P228 for a an issued P226.

Then we went to .40s and I had to turn the P226 in for a G22.

Then I turned the G22 in for a P229 (which I was carrying with the P239 as backup when I retired.

Now, I am at a new state agency, and I carry the P239 and a G17.

I won't even go into how many ARs, shotguns, and SMGs I carried and traded for as new ones came out (but range day used to be a daylight to dark exercise for me having to qualify on so much stuff ).

But, back to the Sig 2022. We had a few SigPros available in Miami and I only knew one guy that picked it over a P229 or G22 when the .40s came out. It was too new at the time for me to pick it. But, now, I just got the itch. :)

Carried a SIG for 15 years, on & off duty, numerous training courses, and different competitions. Love the SIG P220 .45 and the SIG P239 9mm.

In 2005 I switched over to the Glock 19.

As for the 226 decision, I'd go with the stainless. It weighs about the same as your 1911.

You're not the only one who likes thin. My preference is the P239, and when that's not convenient, a Smith J frame.

If I could carry one, it would be my HK45C, despite the poor factory trigger. It's just a hair too bulky compared to the P239, though, for carry in light clothing. It's the bees knees when it comes to accuracy, shootability and reliability, just thick, with a cruddy trigger.

Uh, no, it's a genuine factory OEM Sig Sauer part (http://www.topgunsupply.com/sig-factory-recoil-spring_p239-9mm-sigpro-9mm_p250-9mm-silver.html).

If I used Glack parts in my Sigs, my P239, it would look like this:

Sig 239 9mm in a Kramer horsehide IWB and a backup mag is one of my favorite carries in winter. It's flat, powerful enough with modern 9mm ammo, dead nuts reliable and more accurate than I'll ever be. Also have a Sig 229 E2 in 9mm that I really like, but find it too big to carry concealed.

I have been looking for a pocket gun. My usual is my 442. I decided to try the litle sig. My first trip to the range had me a little worried. I had 6 or 7 malfunctions during the first 200 rds. I knew sig was a quality weapon so I took it home cleaned it well and gave it a good lube. This weekend 200 rds and not one problem at all. And this little piece is accurate as hell. When I IWB, I have a couple of Glocks to choose from, but for pocket carry there's only one choice, the P238.

I have one (Sig Sp2022 9mm) and I love it- one of the best triggers I have shot "out-of-the-box." It is a little big for concealed carry, but I am thinking about a glock 26 or a sigp238 or a sigp290 for my carry weapon as all my handguns are of the larger frame.

I bought mine for $466 at a local gunshow - not to shabby. ($ included tax/backroundcheck-everything)

as far as holsters go- any Springfield XD holsters will fit perfectly (exept the XDS) - I got a Galco Kingtuk IWB for an XD - fits perfect. also I have a Versacarry which will fit any 9mm - so it works well in that too. - a springfield paddle holster will fit too. you can also buy a sig holster to fit the actual weapon ~if you want one, I know they do make them.

**also - you can easily modify a Beretta M9/92 magazine for this by filing the mag catch hole on the magazine down a little bit - a very cheap alternative for the expensive Sig mags- the downside to this is a little bit of the mag sticks out of the bottom of the handle - but, if using for the range or a "survival" situation, I can deal with it. always nice to have a spare mag or (2) of 15 rounds/each - plus you can pick up a Berretta mag for a 3rd or Quarter of the price as the Sig mags- like $10-$15 instead of $40-$50 for the Sig Mag.

I love my P938 for pocket carry for summer when I am wearing cargo short. I have a multiholster.com pocket holster made for it. I do not think I can pocket carry the P938 If I am wearing jeans since it is way too bulky!

Also, i normally wear just polo shirt in summer and sometimes some of my cargo short has shallower pocket, and the butt of the gun (magazine end ) is stainless steel. It kinda shines abit if my polo shirt is a bit shorter. So I am thinking of painting the magazine butt into dark color to avoid shiny attention...

well I had a surprising thing happen at the range yesterday.

I went to practice with my carry gun (Sig sauer P220R SS Elite) I purchased this gun new Dec 2011 test fire was 11 of 2011.
The range trip went as every time the gun was flawless and very accurate.

Come home decided to clean it up went to field strip and the take down lever was broke off. Had to use a pliers to turn it so I could get the slide off.
Any one have an experience like this before?
I called sig and they have a replacement on the way by warranty.

Once you shoot a P938, you might find the short grip is ok. I like my G26 and P938 for pocket carry. With the first few shots out of my G26, I realized the pinky makes no difference. The P938 is the same way. If anything, I'm more accurate with the 26 and P938 than I am with our full grip pistols. Wife has a P238. The grip is a tiny bit longer front to backstrap for the longer rounds but I can't tell the difference in the hand. I paid $720 for mine. But you didn't ask me anyhow.

Is the P938 about the same size as the P238? The 238 grip is a bit short for me, so I'm wondering if the 9mm version has a bigger grip area.

A local retailer has a P938 for $699 with a cash deal. How does that price sound?

I really like my P938.

My LGS (Georgia Gun Store) usually has a few new P938's for <$600. They ship if you're interested.

I bought mine a month or two after it first came out. It has the dreaded failure to fire issue until Sig. fixed it by changing the ejector. Now it shoot flawlessly. I also had to dremel the trigger surface because the serrated part will eventually hurt your finger after 100 rounds.

It also does not make sense getting the P238 instead of the P938 , since the 380 ammo is more expensive than the 9mm.
$10-13 vs $18-20 for 50 rounds. Those prices were before the panic buying started after the Sandy Hook massacre.

I bought mine for $787 (close to $800) out the door i think with extra 7 round magazine. This is the extreme version, the only version that comes with an extra 7 round magazine. Remember, the extra 7 rounds magazine cost around $70+ extra if you buy the other P938 version.

For brand new Extreme P938 version, $699 is pretty good price!

You'll going to love the P938 than the P238 , due to longer thicker hand grip and ambidextrous trigger lock.

Btw, with the P938, if you decided not to carry one round in the chamber, you can leave the trigger unlock and still can rack the slide to chamber the round. You can also rack the slide and unchamber a hot round even when the trigger is locked. Pretty cool stuff for a single action gun!

Thanks for your response.

I visited my LGS today to look at the P938, but somehow I got waaay off track. Instead of buying the Sig, I walked out the door with a new Ruger SP101 4" in .22 cal and an Iver Johnson .410 single shot shotgun. How's that for mission divergence?

I haven't owned a .22 handgun since I sold my Colt Woodsman for college cash decades ago. The old Iver Johnson is in very good condition considering its age, and I don't see many old guns in .410. Both of these guns will be good to teach 5 little granddaughters about shooting. This is a better outcome than my original shopping mission.

That's neat! I used to own a Ruger LCR 357 and it was a blast to shoot! With so many random mass shooting nowadays, I decided to sell it and bought 2 guns with at least more than 5 rounds capacity and 7+ rounds magazine backup and a quick reloading capability. So I ended up with P938 6 rounds and 7 rounds magazine backup (Summer carry) and XDs 45 6rounds with 8 rounds magazine backup. ( Winter carry)

I had a Sig522. 22LR and I found it boring to shoot, but great for trainning young shooters. I ended up selling the rifle.

PSA has the rubber grip P938 on sale for $540 if anyone is still interested in one. It says that it comes with 2 mags.

If that is P938 Extreme, that is a great price! Extreme model normally comes with free 7 round mag.

I think I bought mine close to $800 out the door that time.

The picture they have is the rubber grip model, not the Extreme. It says "Sig Sports 13 938" and says specifically that it comes with 2 mags but doesn't say what kind. I hear of prices like yours and just wanted people to be aware of this deal. I would post a link but I'm on my phone.
