Yup, its just a Mossberg 500 with a few differences.

I love my 88.

I have the 7+1 20 inch barrel.

You can get all of the accessories for it that you want. It goes bang everytime I pull the trigger. It eats up any ammo I feed it. And it was a lot cheaper than other options.

+ Cheap - better to have a gun now than be saving up for the Benelli you never get
+ Cheap - less $ gun = more ammo/practice
+ Splits the difference between 500/870 controls. Probably the best config period
+ 7+1 without extensions and other shaky structrues
+ Perfectly reliable weapon
+ Lot's of accessory options

- Not quite as sturdy as a 500, less sturdy than a 590; What are you doing that that really matters?

Can't hate period. I have a 500 20" for the record.

The reliability of the Mossberg 500 with a more convenient crossbolt safety, and cheap too. The only downside is that it doesn't come with wood furniture.

If you love dual extractors and a cross bolt safety then the Maverick is perfect for HD work.

This guy made a decent video of a Maverick 88.

All Mossberg shotguns are very reliable HD guns.
