The "Ranger Bonded" is basically a bonded version of the the Ranger T for the most part. The Ranger T is a non bonded bullet so the jacket peels off the core more during expansion and leaves somewhat large and sharp "talons". The bonded version usually exposes the points by a very small amount however but the points are not near as large as the T series.

Some people add to the confusion by calling the T Series SXT.

I use Ranger Bonded for paper targets.
T-Series for targets that shoot back.

I use both, SXT's in my 9mm and Bonded in my 45 GAP.

This, bonded isn't always better. T's have been performing for a long time, I use both 45/230 and 9/127+p+ and I have complete faith in them.

Interesting. You waste that much money for ammunition on paper targets.

You call $15 for box of 50 (180 gr 40) high quality, clean, near match grade HP ammo a waste?

I call it smart....

Shhhhhhhhhhh.

My target stash can double as SD in an ammo shortage.

For bonded jacketed HOLLOWPOINTS?!

I believe you're thinking FMJ rangers. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me with a link proving otherwise though.

Nope. He's not mistaken. I just picked up 1000 of them at $15 / box. Ranger bonded HPs. Not FMJs. The price was the reason I got'em.

Should we give him the link, guys??? :tongueout:

It's a big file and will take a while to download but what you are looking for may be here.

Gel testing isn't the be all and end all, but it's interesting and also a good starting point.

Geez... I just visited SGAmmo.com and spent some more money. They had a very good deal on gov't overrun .40-cal 180-gr HST. It's the brass cased stuff (instead of nickel). But, at $20 / box, or $17 / box if you buy 500. That's a DEAL! Picked up 500. There are only 53 boxes left! Get'em while they're hot!

Hotpig, is the Win. 135 gr. .40 S&W all gone? I wanted to try some but waited too long & can't find any. I really like the Fed. 135 gr. HST.

Yup, They've got some great stuff right now. I got a couple of boxes of the .40 HST overrun but my main purchase was a 1000 of the nickel plated Rem 180 FMJ for $250 for my brand-spankin'-new Gen4 23. Sweet. Nickel for $12.50/box.

Ranger T sure looks awesome when they expand. for not being a bonded bullet they hold together very well.
